Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TYT TYT777 / PX-777 / MT-777 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 7.4V 1200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the TYT TYT777, MT-777, PX-777, and PX-728 series handheld two-way radios. It slots into the same battery bay as the original pack and connects via the same contact layout. Capacity is 1200mAh — use what's listed here, not figures quoted elsewhere.
- TYT777 / PX-777 / MT-777 platform fit: These models share a common battery form factor, contact arrangement, and BMS handshake protocol across the UHF and VHF variants. One pack covers the group because the voltage rail and connector spec didn't change across that production run.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on a TYT777-class radio body. The BMS held cutoff correctly at the low-voltage threshold and accepted charge from a standard dock without triggering fault states.
- First-insertion contact check: If the charger shows no activity on first insertion, remove the pack and wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth before reseating. New cells ship at storage voltage — the dock needs a clean contact cycle to register the pack and begin the charge sequence.
Why the TYT777 cuts out mid-transmission on a new battery
Pressing PTT draws a sharp current spike as the RF stage fires up — on the TYT777 platform this can hit two to three times the idle draw in under a millisecond. If the cell is still at storage voltage (typically 3.6–3.7V per cell), the BMS may read that spike as an overcurrent event and trip the protection circuit. The radio goes silent even though the pack isn't flat. Charge the battery fully before the first transmission cycle — once the cells are at rated voltage, the BMS handles the PTT spike without tripping.
Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected on a new pack
The TYT777 reads battery level using voltage thresholds, not a fuel gauge chip. A new pack at storage voltage sits below the top threshold, so the radio displays one bar fewer than a fully charged cell would show. This isn't a faulty pack — it's the radio reading a real voltage. Charge the battery until the dock light goes solid green, then reinsert. The indicator will step up to the correct bar level once cell voltage reaches 8.3–8.4V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My TYT777 drops to low transmit power partway through a shift — is the new battery causing this?
Yes, this is voltage sag under sustained RF output. During extended transmissions, cell voltage drops under load, and once it crosses the radio's reduced-power threshold, the TYT777 steps down TX output to protect the BMS. It's not a faulty pack — it's the radio responding to a real voltage condition. Charge the battery fully before each shift and avoid leaving the radio in continuous transmit for more than a few seconds at a time.
The charger dock blinks a fault pattern after I insert the new battery — it never clears on its own.
This happens when the pack voltage is too low for the dock's acceptance window. New Li-ion cells ship at storage voltage, and some TYT-compatible docks won't begin a charge cycle if the pack reads below roughly 6.0V on the terminals. Remove the battery, wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the dock with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. If the fault persists, check a second dock — dock contact oxidation is a common cause of a fault LED that won't clear on first insertion.
The radio powers on fine but the charger never advances to a full-charge green light — it stays on amber indefinitely.
This points to a cell impedance mismatch between the new pack and the dock's charge termination logic. Some TYT docks use a voltage-delta or temperature-delta method to detect full charge — if the cell impedance is slightly outside what the dock expects, it holds on the bulk charge stage. Let the dock run for a full cycle of at least four hours without interrupting it. If it still hasn't gone green after that, check the dock's own contacts for corrosion and clean them with a dry cloth before trying again.
