Fits Dynascan V-300, V-400, V-500, V-510 two-way radios replacing OEM part LB-62L lithium-ion battery pack.
7.4V and 1200mAh capacity delivers sustained transmit power without voltage sag during extended field shifts.
Connects via standard two-way radio slide connector with positive contact alignment and locking tab engagement.
Bench testing showed clean BMS acceptance on first dock insertion with no charger fault codes.
On first use in the V-300 charger dock, remove and reseat the battery firmly if the dock LED blinks — the contact cycle resets BMS handshake recognition before green charge indication appears.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dynascan V-300 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LB-62L)

The LB-62L is a 7.4V, 1200mAh Li-ion battery for the Dynascan V-300, V-400, V-500, and V-510 two-way radios. It slots into the same battery bay and uses the same BMS communication protocol as the original pack. Voltage and capacity figures match the product data — 7.4V nominal, 8.88Wh total energy.

  • V-300 through V-510 platform fit: These four models share the same battery bay dimensions, contact layout, and BMS handshake voltage thresholds. One pack covers the whole lineup without any modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled the LB-62L through PTT-heavy transmit loads to confirm BMS overcurrent thresholds hold steady. The protection circuit did not trip under repeated short-burst transmissions at rated RF output.
  • First insertion into the charger dock: If the dock LED shows a fault on first seating, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The Dynascan dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the initial BMS handshake before charging begins.

Why the V-300 cuts out mid-transmission on a new LB-62L

A new Li-ion cell ships at storage voltage — typically 3.6–3.7V per cell, not the 4.2V full-charge peak. When you key the PTT on a half-charged pack, the transmit current spike pulls cell voltage down sharply. The BMS reads this as an undervoltage condition and trips the output to protect the cells. Charge the pack fully in the dock before the first use and the cutout behaviour stops.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected on a new pack

The V-series radios use a simple voltage-threshold bar indicator — each bar corresponds to a voltage window, not a fuel gauge calculation. A new pack at storage voltage sits in the lower threshold band, so the radio displays fewer bars even though the cell is not depleted. After a full charge cycle brings both cells to 4.2V, the indicator reads correctly. No fault in the radio or the battery — it is a voltage-state display, not a fault code.

Frequently Asked Questions

My V-300 goes silent right when I press PTT — is the battery cutting out?

Yes — this is a BMS overcurrent trip triggered by the transmit current spike. When the pack is below full charge, the sudden load pulls cell voltage below the BMS protection threshold and the output shuts momentarily. Charge the LB-62L fully before use and the cutout stops. If it continues on a fully charged pack, wipe the battery contacts and reseat to rule out a resistance fault at the connector.

The charger dock LED keeps blinking and never settles into a solid charge light — what's wrong?

A blinking or fault LED on first insertion almost always means the dock has not completed the BMS handshake. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat it firmly until it clicks. If the LED still faults after reseating, let the radio run the pack down slightly on receive-only mode — docks on this platform sometimes reject a pack that has been sitting at exact storage voltage and need the cell voltage to shift before accepting the charge cycle.

The V-400 drops to noticeably weaker transmit audio mid-shift even though the battery shows bars — why?

This is voltage sag under sustained RF output. As the cells discharge through a long shift, internal cell impedance rises and the voltage drops under transmit load — even while the bar indicator still shows charge remaining. The bar thresholds are measured at rest voltage, not under load, so the display lags behind the real state. Swapping to a freshly charged LB-62L mid-shift restores full TX power; the drop is a cell-depletion issue, not a radio fault.
