Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Tytera TC-3000A — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 7.4V 1800mAh Li-ion battery replaces the stock pack in the Tytera TC-3000A portable two-way radio. It fits the TC-3000A directly and matches the original voltage and form factor. Capacity is 1800mAh (13.32Wh), sourced from the product specification.
- TC-3000A platform fit: The TC-3000A runs a 7.4V two-cell Li-ion architecture. This pack matches that voltage rail and uses the same connector orientation and BMS handshake protocol the radio expects on power-up. No adapter or modification required.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through transmit loads on a compatible 7.4V radio platform. The BMS held the output rail steady under PTT bursts and tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold — no unexpected lockouts during the test cycle.
- First-insertion contact check: If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The TC-3000A dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging begins.
TC-3000A cutting out mid-transmission on a fresh battery
A new Li-ion pack ships at storage voltage — typically around 3.7V per cell, not full charge. When PTT is pressed, transmit current spikes sharply. If the pack is at storage voltage, the BMS may interpret that current draw as an overcurrent event and cut the output rail. The radio drops mid-transmission, not because the pack is faulty, but because it hasn't been charged yet. Fully charge the pack in the dock before first use in the field.
TC-3000A bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected on a new pack
The TC-3000A uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator — each bar corresponds to a voltage band, not a percentage from a fuel gauge chip. A new pack at storage voltage (around 7.4V open-circuit) will sit at a mid-range threshold and display fewer bars than a fully charged pack at 8.4V. This is normal cell behaviour, not a capacity defect. Charge the pack fully in the dock and the indicator will rise to reflect the correct voltage band.

Frequently Asked Questions
My TC-3000A cuts out every time I hold the PTT button for more than a second — is the new battery faulty?
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead cell. When PTT is pressed, transmit current spikes hard and fast — if the pack is below full charge, the BMS reads that spike as an overcurrent event and shuts the output rail down. Charge the pack fully before use; a cell at storage voltage cannot sustain the transmit current surge. Once the pack reaches 8.4V, the BMS handles PTT load without tripping.
The charger dock fault LED came on the moment I inserted the new TC-3000A battery and it never cleared — what's happening?
The dock fault LED usually means the pack voltage is below the dock's acceptance threshold. A pack shipped in storage mode may sit low enough that the charger refuses to initiate a charge cycle. Remove the battery, wipe the gold contacts with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly to ensure a clean BMS handshake. If the fault LED persists, leave the pack inserted for 10 minutes — some docks require a brief contact period before they will accept a pack below the normal acceptance voltage.
The TC-3000A drops to weak audio and low TX power partway through a shift — why does this happen with a battery that still shows bars?
This is voltage sag under sustained RF output. As the pack discharges during a heavy-transmission shift, cell voltage drops under load even if the open-circuit reading still clears the next bar threshold. The radio reduces transmit power when the supply voltage sags below its regulation floor — typically around 6.8–7.0V under load. The bar indicator reflects resting voltage, not loaded voltage, so it can show two bars while the cell sags below the radio's minimum under a TX burst. Reduce transmission duty cycle during the final third of a shift to stay above the sag threshold.
