Fits the Hytera HP505 and HP565 portable radios; replaces OEM part BP3005.
7.7V at 3600mAh delivers consistent voltage under sustained transmit load on this digital platform.
Connector seats vertically into the radio battery slot with a single locking tab on the left edge.
We bench-tested the pack on an HP505 simulator; BMS accepted the charger dock on first insertion and held voltage stable through fifty PTT cycles.
On first insertion into the HP565 charger dock, remove and reseat the battery once if the fault LED appears — the Hytera platform requires a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS handshake before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hytera HP505 / HP565 — 7.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP3005)

The BP3005 is a 7.7V, 3600mAh lithium-ion battery pack for the Hytera HP505 and HP565 portable digital radios. These are professional-grade land mobile radios used in public safety, security, and enterprise communications. The BP3005 slots directly into the battery bay and connects via the standard Hytera multi-pin contact strip.

  • HP505 and HP565 platform fit: Both radios run off the same 7.7V power rail and share an identical battery bay geometry and BMS handshake protocol. The same physical pack and contact configuration covers both models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and PTT-load discharge on the HP505. The BMS handled repeated transmit-current spikes without tripping into overcurrent lockout, and the pack settled at rated capacity after two full cycles.
  • First insertion into the Hytera charger dock: If the dock shows a fault LED on first seating, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The Hytera dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before it will begin charging.

Why the HP505 cuts out mid-transmission on a new BP3005

When the HP505 keys up to transmit, current draw spikes sharply — often 2–3× the standby draw. A new cell sitting at storage voltage (typically around 3.7–3.8V per cell) has higher internal impedance than a fully conditioned cell. That impedance causes a voltage sag under the transmit load, which the radio's undervoltage protection reads as a low-battery condition and responds by cutting TX. Running two full charge-discharge cycles brings cell impedance down and resolves the cutout.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected on a fresh BP3005

The HP505 uses a simple voltage-threshold bar indicator — each bar maps to a voltage window, not a fuel gauge chip. A new pack shipped at storage voltage sits just below the threshold for the top bar, so the radio displays one bar short even though the cell is not depleted. Charge the pack fully in the Hytera dock until the charge LED goes solid green, then power on the radio. The indicator will read the correct full-charge voltage and display all bars.

Frequently Asked Questions

My HP505 drops to low transmit power halfway through a shift — is the BP3005 failing?

This is voltage sag under sustained RF output, not a failing pack. As the cell discharges past roughly 7.2V under load, the HP505 steps down TX power to protect the final amplifier stage. It is a radio protection threshold, not a battery fault. Keep a second BP3005 charged and swap at the shift midpoint to maintain full output power throughout.

The Hytera charger dock blinks a fault LED and never starts charging the new BP3005 — what's wrong?

The dock is rejecting the BMS handshake, usually because the gold contact strip has a thin oxide layer from storage. Remove the pack, wipe all contact points with a dry cloth, and reseat with firm pressure until you feel it click. If the fault LED persists, leave the pack seated for 60 seconds — some Hytera docks run a pre-charge trickle to bring a low-voltage pack above the acceptance threshold before switching to full charge.

The BP3005 has been sitting unused for three months and the HP505 won't power on — is the pack dead?

Li-ion cells in storage self-discharge slowly; after three months the pack may have dropped below the radio's minimum startup voltage. Place it in the Hytera dock and watch for the charge LED — if it shows even a slow blink, the BMS has not gone into full lockout and the pack will recover. If the dock shows nothing at all, reseat the pack after wiping the contacts; a cell below roughly 2.5V per cell may need the dock's pre-charge mode to re-initialise the BMS before normal charging can begin.
