Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

UMI UMIDIGI Z2 Pro — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (Z2 Pro)
This is a 3350mAh Li-Polymer cell at 3.85V nominal, built to replace the original battery in the UMIDIGI Z2 Pro smartphone. It restores power to the processor, display, camera, and all connectivity functions when the original cell has degraded or failed to hold a charge. Physical dimensions are 78.30 × 59.50 × 4.60mm — confirm against your existing cell before installation.
- UMIDIGI Z2 Pro fit: This cell matches the voltage rail and connector spec of the Z2 Pro. The BMS communicates with the phone's charge IC over the same pin configuration as the original, so the device recognises the cell and allows normal charge initiation.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the bench. The BMS held cutoff correctly at both ends — no false termination during charge, no undervoltage trip under simulated modem and display load.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one full discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes amperage into an uncalibrated counter — preventing erratic percentage readings early on.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
A new cell can trigger abrupt shutdowns in the 20–30% range because the phone's fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old, degraded cell's discharge curve. When the modem fires for a call or data burst, current draw spikes and the new cell's voltage drops briefly below the shutdown threshold the IC has mapped. The phone interprets this as a dead battery and cuts power — even though the cell has remaining capacity. One complete discharge to 0% followed by a full uninterrupted charge resets the coulomb counter against the new cell's actual curve. After that cycle, shutdowns in this range stop.
USB-PD fast charge not accepted on the first cycle after replacement
Some Z2 Pro units will not negotiate fast charge on the first cycle with a new cell — the charge IC defaults to standard 5V/1A until the BMS has completed one handshake sequence. This is a protection behaviour, not a fault with the cell or charger. Plug into your fast charger after the first full standard charge cycle and the protocol negotiation completes normally. If fast charge still does not activate after two cycles, check the USB-C port for debris — a dirty contact disrupts the CC pin signal the PD controller needs to step up voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions
My UMIDIGI Z2 Pro battery percentage jumps around erratically after I put in the new cell — is something wrong with it?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. The fuel gauge IC on the Z2 Pro was calibrated to the old battery's discharge curve, and a new cell has a different internal impedance profile. The counter loses its reference point and reports unstable percentages until it relearns. Run one complete discharge — use the phone until it shuts off on its own — then charge uninterrupted to 100% without removing the charger. That full cycle gives the coulomb counter a new baseline and the percentage display stabilises.
The phone won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before installation — what's happening?
The cell likely discharged below 2.5V during storage, which triggers BMS lockout — the protection circuit disconnects the cell to prevent damage, and the phone sees no power source at all. Connect the phone to a wall charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold, typically around 2.8–3.0V, at which point the lockout releases. Once the phone shows a charging indicator, continue to a full charge before first use.
The back of my Z2 Pro gets warm near the battery during the first few charges with the new cell — should I be concerned?
Mild warmth on the first few charge cycles is expected with a new Li-Polymer cell. A fresh cell has slightly higher internal impedance than one that has been through several cycles, so the charge IC dissipates a little more energy as heat during the constant-current phase. This reduces after three to five cycles as the cell's impedance settles. If the phone becomes hot to the touch — not just warm — or the temperature climbs during standby rather than only during active charging, remove the charger and check that the USB-C connection is fully seated, since a partial contact forces the charge IC to work harder.
