Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

UMI UMIDIGI Z2 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (Z2)
This is a 3650mAh Li-Polymer battery rated at 3.85V, built to replace the original cell in the UMIDIGI Z2 smartphone. It restores power to the processor, display, and wireless radios when the factory cell has degraded or failed. Dimensions are 84.00 × 62.35 × 4.50mm — confirm clearance inside the chassis before installation.
- UMIDIGI Z2 fitment: The Z2 uses a fixed connector pinout tied to a specific BMS communication protocol. This cell matches that pinout, so the charge IC and fuel gauge IC receive the handshake they expect without throwing a fault code.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the Z2 platform. The BMS accepted charge current normally, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold — no runaway, no false cutoff mid-cycle.
- First-cycle calibration on the Z2: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the Z2's fuel gauge IC map the new cell's actual discharge curve before fast-charge current is applied to an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the UMIDIGI Z2 after a cell swap
A new Li-Polymer cell has a slightly different voltage-versus-capacity curve than the worn cell the fuel gauge IC was calibrated against. At 20–30% reported charge, the modem or display draws a brief high-current spike. If the fuel gauge IC hasn't re-mapped the new cell, it cannot predict the voltage drop accurately — the phone reads that spike as a collapse to cutoff voltage and shuts down. One full discharge cycle at standard charge rate recalibrates the coulomb counter and eliminates these false shutdowns.
USB fast charge refusing to engage on the first cycle after replacement
The Z2's charge IC negotiates fast-charge current only after it confirms the BMS state is within expected parameters. On a brand-new cell, internal impedance is slightly higher than a broken-in cell, and the charge IC may interpret that as an out-of-range condition and fall back to standard 5V charging. This typically clears after the first full charge cycle as cell impedance settles. If fast charge still does not engage after two full cycles, check the USB-C port for debris and confirm the charger output matches the Z2's rated input.

Frequently Asked Questions
My UMIDIGI Z2 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the battery dead?
Most likely the cell discharged below the BMS lockout threshold, which sits around 2.5V per cell for Li-Polymer. At that voltage, the protection circuit blocks all current flow to prevent damage, so the phone shows nothing. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. If the BMS recovers, the charge LED or boot screen will appear; if nothing happens after 45 minutes, check that the battery connector is fully seated inside the chassis.
The battery percentage on my UMIDIGI Z2 keeps jumping around erratically — it reads 60%, then skips to 45%, then back up to 55% without charging.
This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against the new cell's discharge curve. The IC was trained on the old cell's characteristics and its coulomb counter is now out of sync with actual cell state. Run one complete discharge — use the phone until it shuts itself off — then charge uninterrupted to 100% at standard rate with fast charging disabled. After that single full cycle, the fuel gauge IC resets its reference points and percentage reporting stabilises.
My UMIDIGI Z2 feels noticeably warm near the back panel while charging the new battery — is that normal?
Some warmth during the first few charge cycles is expected. A new high-impedance Li-Polymer cell dissipates more energy as heat while the charge IC works against that higher internal resistance. Warmth that lets you hold the phone comfortably is within range; heat that forces you to put it down is not. Charge on a hard flat surface rather than a bed or case for the first three cycles, and switch to standard charging speed — not fast charge — until impedance settles after cycle two or three.
