Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Urovo i9000s — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HBL9000S)

This is a 3.8V, 5000mAh Li-ion battery for the Urovo i9000s rugged handheld mobile computer. It replaces OEM part HBL9000S and fits the i9000s used in retail, logistics, and warehouse pick-and-pack operations. Capacity figure is sourced from the product specification — 19Wh total energy.

  • i9000s platform fit: The i9000s uses a single-cell 3.8V architecture with a dedicated BMS that monitors cell temperature and current draw from both the imager and wireless radio simultaneously. This pack matches that voltage rail and connector pinout exactly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-burst sequences on the i9000s bench unit. The BMS held stable across combined imager trigger and 802.11 radio polling events without tripping an overcurrent fault.
  • First-shift cradle protocol: After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before putting it into a pick-and-pack rotation. Scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum charge — a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS trips on the first shift.

Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack

Charging errors on a freshly installed pack are almost always a contact resistance issue, not a battery fault. Dock contacts and the battery's gold pads both oxidise over time, and even a new pack can fail to handshake if the contacts aren't clean. Wipe the battery contacts and the cradle dock with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the pack firmly. If the error clears, the cell is fine — if it persists after reseating, check cradle voltage at the contacts; it should read 4.2–5V before the pack is connected.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

On the i9000s, rapid scan bursts pull current from both the imager and the 802.11 radio at the same time. If the cell voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold during that combined draw, the radio drops its connection before the imager shuts off — so the scanner appears to be reading but data stops transmitting. This is more common when the pack is below 30% charge. Charge the pack above 50% before a high-frequency scan session and the voltage sag stays within the radio's operating floor.

Frequently Asked Questions

The i9000s stopped reading barcodes right after I swapped in the new battery — what's wrong?

The imager needs a minimum supply voltage to fire the laser or illuminate the sensor array. If the replacement pack shipped partially discharged, the cell voltage may be just low enough to trip the imager's power threshold while still keeping the screen on. Place the scanner in its cradle and charge to 100% before use. After a full charge cycle, the imager should fire normally — if it still fails, check that the battery connector is fully seated and the lock tab has clicked.

My i9000s runs noticeably shorter shifts with the new battery compared to the old one — is something wrong with the pack?

A new Li-ion cell often needs two to three full charge-discharge cycles before it reaches rated capacity. Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval both draw from the same cell simultaneously, so a break-in pack under heavy warehouse use will show shorter endurance early on. Run two full cradle charges before judging shift endurance. If capacity still seems low after three cycles, check that the scanner's backlight timeout and wireless polling interval haven't been reset to factory defaults — both significantly increase draw.

The i9000s feels noticeably warm after a long shift — is the battery overheating?

Sustained combined draw from the imager, wireless radio, and processor in the i9000s's enclosed housing does generate heat, and that's normal under continuous use. The BMS monitors cell temperature and will throttle charge acceptance if the pack gets too hot, but it won't shut the scanner down unless the cell hits a hard thermal limit. After the shift, let the device cool for five minutes before placing it in the cradle — charging a warm cell extends the time to reach full charge and the BMS may show a slower charge rate until the pack drops below 40°C.
