Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zebra DS3600 / DS3678 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTRY-36IAB0E-00)
This is a 3.7V, 3400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Zebra DS3600, DS3678, LI3600, and EVM series handheld barcode scanners. It replaces OEM part numbers BTRY-36IAB0E-00, 82-166537-01, and BT-000341-01. The cell and BMS match the original pack dimensions and handshake protocol used by the DS3600 platform.
- DS3600 / DS3678 platform fit: These models share a common battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One pack covers the full DS36xx lineup, including variants deployed in cold-storage and outdoor environments where the host device queries the pack state frequently.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack in a DS3678 cradle and confirmed the BMS handshake completed correctly. The dock accepted the charge cycle without throwing a fault, and the scanner recognised the pack at startup without a soft reset.
- First-shift cradle protocol: After installing, seat the scanner in its four-slot cradle and complete a full charge cycle before pulling it for pick-and-pack work. Scan trigger inrush current spikes highest when the cell sits near minimum voltage, and a pre-charged pack prevents a false BMS trip at the start of the first shift.
Cradle showing charging error on a new pack
The DS3600 cradle reads battery state through the gold contact pins on the base of the scanner. If those contacts carry oxidation or debris from the old pack, the dock can misread the new cell's internal resistance and flag a charge fault. Wipe the contacts on both the scanner base and the cradle cup with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the unit firmly. If the fault clears on the second attempt, the contacts were the cause, not the pack. A persistent fault after cleaning points to the cradle itself, not the battery.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
During a fast scan sequence, the DS3600 draws current simultaneously from the imager and the Bluetooth or Wi-Fi radio. That combined inrush can cause a momentary voltage sag on a cell that is below 3.5V. The BMS interprets the sag as an unsafe discharge event and briefly throttles output, which drops the radio connection before the scanner recovers. The fix is to ensure the pack is above 3.6V before starting a high-volume scan session — check the charge level indicator on the scanner before pulling it from the cradle.

Frequently Asked Questions
My DS3600 stopped reading barcodes right after I swapped the battery — the trigger clicks but nothing scans.
The imager needs a minimum voltage to fire the illumination and capture a frame. If the replacement pack shipped partially discharged, it may not be supplying enough voltage to bring the imager above its operating threshold. Seat the scanner in its cradle and charge until the indicator shows full before attempting to scan. Once the cell is above 3.6V, the imager should respond normally on the first trigger press.
The scanner feels noticeably warm after a few hours of continuous scanning — is the battery causing that?
Sustained scan-plus-wireless draw in the enclosed DS3600 housing generates heat from both the radio and the imager, not just the cell. The battery does warm slightly under continuous discharge, which is normal for Li-ion at moderate C-rates. If the pack feels hot to the touch rather than warm, check that the battery contacts are fully seated — a high-resistance connection forces the cell to work harder for the same output current. Re-seat the pack firmly and confirm the housing latch clicks closed.
Our DS3600s used to last a full shift but the new pack drains faster than expected — what changes scan endurance most?
Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval are the two biggest draws on this platform. If the scanner is set to poll the network at short intervals or if workers are scanning high-density barcodes that require multiple decode attempts, the combined draw is significantly higher than a single-scan-per-item workflow. Check the device's wireless polling interval in Zebra's StageNow or MDM console and reduce it if it is set below 500ms. Lowering the polling rate is the single fastest way to extend endurance without changing any hardware.
