  • SR5600 platform fit: The SR5600 uses a 3.8V single-cell Li-ion pack with a specific BMS handshake that governs both the scan trigger and wireless radio. This replacement pack matches that voltage rail and connector footprint so the device firmware recognises the pack without fault codes.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-burst sequences and monitored the BMS under combined imager-plus-radio draw. The protection circuit held voltage above the low-battery cutoff threshold without tripping prematurely.

The SR5600 cradle reads pack state through the battery contacts on the base of the unit. If those contacts carry oxidation or debris from the previous battery, the dock misreads resistance as a fault and throws a charging error. Wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat firmly. If the error clears within 30 seconds of reseating, contact resistance was the cause — not a faulty pack.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

The SR5600 draws simultaneously from the imager and the wireless radio during a rapid scan sequence. On a depleted or degraded cell, that combined inrush pulls voltage low enough for the radio module to drop its connection before the BMS trips. The fix is to ensure the pack is charged above 3.6V before a high-frequency scanning shift. If dropouts keep occurring with a fresh charge, check that the pack contacts are fully seated — a loose connection adds resistance and amplifies the voltage sag under load.

If it still fails after a full charge, clean the scan window — it rules out a lens issue before anything else.

My SR5600 feels noticeably warm after a long scanning shift — is that normal?

Sustained imager firing combined with continuous wireless polling generates heat inside the SR5600's compact housing, and that warmth transfers to the battery pack. Mild warmth at the end of a full shift is within normal range for a 3.8V Li-ion cell under that load. If the device is too hot to hold comfortably, check that the scanner isn't running wireless polling at maximum frequency when it isn't needed — reducing the poll interval lowers the combined draw and the resulting heat. Dock the unit between shifts so the cell doesn't sit at minimum charge while still powering the radio.

The new battery doesn't last as long as expected on shifts with high scan volume — what's causing that?

The SR5600's 800mAh cell powers both the barcode imager and the wireless radio simultaneously, and high scan burst frequency drains the pack faster than low-volume use. If your workflow involves continuous rapid scanning with wireless sync, capacity depletes quicker than it would in light intermittent use — that's a draw profile issue, not a defective pack.
