Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Datalogic Joya Touch A6 — 3.6V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BY-04)
This is a 3.6V, 3300mAh Li-ion battery built to the BY-04 specification. It fits the Datalogic Joya Touch A6, Joya Touch A6 Gun-Styled, MEMOR 1, and Joya Touch handheld mobile computers used in retail, warehouse, and logistics scanning operations. Swap it in when the original cell can no longer hold charge through a full shift.
- Joya Touch A6 platform fit: The A6, A6 Gun-Styled, MEMOR 1, and Joya Touch share the same BY-04 cell format, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — one pack covers all four devices without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-burst sequences on the Joya Touch A6 platform. The BMS held the protection thresholds correctly, and the pack delivered consistent voltage across rapid-trigger and wireless radio draw simultaneously.
- First-shift charging practice: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle for a complete charge cycle before deploying it on the pick floor. Scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell is near minimum charge, and a pre-charged pack prevents a false BMS over-current trip at the start of the first shift.
Cradle charging error on a freshly installed BY-04 pack
New packs sometimes ship with surface oxidation on the gold-plated contacts, which raises contact resistance enough for the cradle to flag a charging fault. The dock's charge controller reads the resistance as a bad cell and halts the charge cycle before it starts. Wipe the pack contacts and the cradle's spring pins with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly until the dock LED changes state. If the error clears, the contacts were the cause — not the cell.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The Joya Touch A6 draws from the same cell simultaneously for the imager, processor, and Wi-Fi radio. During a rapid scan burst, the combined inrush pulls the cell voltage down sharply. If the cell is already partially depleted, this momentary sag can trip the BMS under-voltage threshold, cutting power to the radio first — the scanner appears to drop off the network mid-operation. Charge the pack fully before the shift and check that the cradle contacts are clean. A cell sitting above 3.6V under load will not sag far enough to trigger the cutoff.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Joya Touch A6 won't read barcodes after I swapped the battery — the trigger works but nothing scans
The imager needs a minimum voltage to fire the illumination correctly. If the new pack shipped at a low state of charge, the cell voltage under imager load can fall below the threshold the scanner needs to decode reliably. Seat the device in its cradle and charge it fully before use. Once the pack is at full charge, the imager draw stays within spec and scanning resumes normally.
The Joya Touch A6 gets noticeably warm after a few hours of continuous scanning — is that the battery?
Sustained scan bursts combined with constant Wi-Fi polling generate heat in both the processor and the cell inside the enclosed housing. The BY-04 pack itself produces some heat during discharge under that combined load, which is normal for Li-ion under sustained draw. If the housing feels hot to the touch rather than just warm, check that the cradle ventilation slots are not blocked and that the pack contacts are fully seated — a high-resistance connection forces the cell to work harder. Cell temperature above 45°C at the surface is the threshold to watch.
The new battery drains faster than expected compared to the old one — what's actually happening?
A new Li-ion cell often needs three to five full charge and discharge cycles before it reaches rated capacity. Shallow cycles — pulling the scanner off the cradle at 80% and replacing it at 30% — do not condition the cell to its full 3300mAh range. Run the pack down to the low-battery warning, then charge it fully in the cradle without interruption. Repeat that two more times and measure shift endurance again before assuming the pack is underperforming.
