Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

UTStarcom MP6900 / Vogue — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ELF0160)
This is a 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the UTStarcom MP6900 and Vogue smartphones. It replaces OEM part numbers ELF0160, 35H00095-00M, and FFEA175B009951. Install it when the original cell no longer holds voltage under screen or modem load.
- MP6900 and Vogue platform fit: Both devices share the same battery bay dimensions (51.53 × 37.36 × 5.35mm), connector pinout, and charge IC handshake — one cell fits both without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the MP6900 platform. The BMS accepted charge current without tripping, and voltage held stable through simulated screen-on and modem-active draw states.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. The fuel gauge IC on these phones calibrates its coulomb counter against the cell's discharge curve — skipping this step causes the OS to report inaccurate percentages from day one.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the MP6900 after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still mapped to the old cell's voltage curve. The new cell hits a voltage cliff under modem or display load earlier than the gauge predicts, so the phone cuts power before the displayed percentage reaches zero. It is not a defective battery — it is a calibration mismatch. Run one full discharge from 100% down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%, and the coulomb counter resets to the new cell's actual curve.
Phone feels warm near the battery compartment on the first few charges
A new Li-ion cell has higher internal impedance than a worn one. The charge IC pushes the same current profile it used on the degraded original, and higher impedance means more energy is lost as heat in the cell during those first cycles. This is normal and typically resolves after two to three full charge cycles as the cell's impedance settles. If warmth continues past the third full charge, check that the back cover is seated correctly — trapped air blocks heat dissipation and amplifies the effect.

Frequently Asked Questions
My MP6900 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for months — is it dead?
The BMS locks out below roughly 2.5V per cell after extended storage discharge, and the phone will show no response even when plugged in. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold, after which the phone will boot normally. If there is still no response after 30 minutes on a wall charger, try a different cable before assuming the cell is faulty.
The battery percentage jumps around erratically — goes from 45% straight to 12% and then back up — what's happening?
The fuel gauge IC on the MP6900 uses a coulomb counter calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve, and a replacement cell with a different curve causes the gauge to lose tracking mid-discharge. The jumps are the IC attempting to reconcile measured voltage against an outdated capacity model. One complete uninterrupted discharge — screen on, no charger — followed by a full charge to 100% forces the coulomb counter to relearn the new cell's actual curve. After that single cycle, percentage reporting stabilises.
Fast charging stopped working after I swapped the battery — the phone charges, but slowly — why?
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC defaults to a conservative current profile because it has no charge history for the new BMS. Some UTStarcom firmware also requires the BMS to complete one standard charge cycle before it signals readiness to accept high-current fast charge protocols. Complete one full slow charge from flat to 100%, then reconnect the charger — fast charge should re-engage on the second cycle. If it still charges slowly, confirm you are using the original wall adapter, as third-party adapters often do not negotiate the correct charge protocol with this device.
