Fits VDO Dayton MS2000 and MS2100 GPS navigators; replaces OEM part 52340A 1S1PMX.
3.7V lithium-ion cell with 1050mAh capacity delivers the full charge window this GPS needs.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single retention tab; no modifications required.
We bench-tested this cell in an MS2000 unit; the BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault cycles.
After installation, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before active navigation — cold starts after battery swap take 5–10 minutes versus under one minute for warm restarts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

VDO Dayton MS2000 / MS2100 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (52340A 1S1PMX)

This 3.7V, 1050mAh lithium-ion cell replaces OEM part 52340A 1S1PMX in the VDO Dayton MS2000 and MS2100 portable GPS navigators. It provides battery backup so the unit stays powered when disconnected from the vehicle's 12V supply. At 51.00 × 36.00 × 5.80mm, it fits the original battery bay without modification.

  • MS2000 and MS2100 share this cell: Both models run the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with the same OEM connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol — one part number covers both units without any wiring changes.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled the cell through charge and discharge on the MS2000 platform. The BMS engaged correctly at low-voltage cutoff, and charge termination triggered cleanly at full capacity without overcharge events.
  • Post-swap cold start: After fitting this cell, power the GPS on outdoors before driving. A full power interruption forces a cold start — the receiver may take 5 to 10 minutes to acquire a satellite fix the first time, versus under a minute for subsequent warm starts. Do not dismiss a slow first fix as a fault.

GPS accuracy reduced as the MS2000 battery drops below 3.5V

The MS2000's power management reduces RF receiver sensitivity at low cell voltage to extend operating time. Below roughly 3.5V, the GPS chipset pulls less current, which lowers signal processing gain. This shows up as fewer satellites listed in the signal screen and a wider position scatter on the map. Charge the unit fully to restore normal receiver performance — the issue is not the antenna or the replacement cell itself.

MS2000 shuts off without warning instead of showing a low-battery alert

The low-battery indicator on the MS2000 reads estimated state of charge, not raw cell voltage. After a battery swap, the fuel gauge is uncalibrated and the displayed charge percentage drifts from the actual cell state. The unit hits the hardware voltage cutoff — typically around 3.3V — before the software warning triggers. Run two full charge and discharge cycles to let the gauge re-calibrate and restore accurate warning behaviour.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MS2000 lost all my saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The MS2000 stores some route and waypoint data in RAM that depends on battery power to persist. A full power removal — which happens during a cell swap — clears that volatile memory. Saved POIs stored in flash are usually retained, but active routes and recent destinations are commonly lost. Before your next swap, export saved routes to the SD card via the device menu.

The MS2000 took nearly 10 minutes to find satellites after I fitted the new battery — is the cell faulty?

The cell is not the problem. Removing power forces the GPS receiver into a cold start, which means it has no cached almanac or ephemeris data to work from. The receiver has to download that data fresh from satellites, which takes 5 to 10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Subsequent power cycles warm-start in under a minute once the almanac is cached again — leave the unit stationary outside until it locks, then drive.

My MS2000 battery drains noticeably faster when I'm actively navigating versus just leaving it on standby — why?

Active navigation runs two high-draw loads simultaneously: the GPS receiver is continuously processing satellite signals, and the display stays at full brightness for map rendering. In standby, the screen dims or blanks and the receiver duty-cycles to a lower update rate. To reduce drain on long trips, lower screen brightness in the display settings — the GPS receiver draw is fixed, but cutting display load meaningfully extends time between charges.
