Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Callaway uPro MX+ / uPro MX / uPro G1 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (8M100003282)

This 3.7V, 750mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Callaway uPro MX+, uPro MX, and uPro G1 golf GPS rangefinders. It fits the internal battery bay and connects to the same BMS circuitry as the factory cell. Dimensions are 53.90 × 33.80 × 4.60mm — measure your existing cell before ordering if your unit is a late-revision model.

  • uPro MX+ / MX / G1 platform fit: These three models share the same battery footprint, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell covers the full range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a uPro MX+ unit, confirming BMS acceptance, stable 3.7V nominal output, and correct charge-termination behaviour at full capacity.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after fitting: After installing this cell, power the device on outdoors before your round begins. The GPS runs a cold start after any full power interruption — first satellite fix takes 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts resolve in under a minute. Plan for this before teeing off.

GPS accuracy dropping at low battery on the uPro MX+

As cell voltage drops toward the BMS low-voltage cutoff threshold, the uPro MX+ reduces power to the GPS receiver to protect remaining charge. Lower receiver sensitivity means the unit locks onto fewer satellites or relies on weaker signals. Yardage readings can drift by several yards under these conditions — enough to matter on an approach shot. Keep the cell above 3.5V during play to maintain full receiver performance.

uPro MX+ shutting off without warning before the battery indicator hits zero

The battery indicator on the uPro MX+ is calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new or aged replacement cell may have a slightly different voltage profile, so the indicator can read one bar remaining while the actual cell voltage is already near the BMS cutoff. The BMS cuts power abruptly at its threshold — typically around 3.0V — with no warning screen. After fitting this cell, run two full charge-discharge cycles so the device firmware can re-calibrate its fuel gauge against the new cell's actual curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

My uPro MX+ lost all my saved courses after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The uPro MX+ stores some course data and user settings in battery-backed RAM, which loses power the moment the cell is removed. A full power interruption clears that volatile memory. Reload your courses via the Callaway course update software connected over USB after fitting the new cell.

The GPS took almost 10 minutes to find my location after the battery swap — is something wrong with the new cell?

Nothing is wrong. The uPro MX+ performs a cold start after any complete power loss because it has no stored almanac data to work from. It has to download fresh satellite position data from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with clear sky view. Power the device on and leave it stationary outside for that window before your first round — subsequent startups will lock in under a minute.

My uPro MX+ drains noticeably faster when I'm actively navigating compared to when it's just sitting in my bag — what's causing that?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver and the backlit touchscreen simultaneously at full draw. Standby or sleep mode cuts the receiver polling rate and dims or kills the display, dropping current draw sharply. Reduce screen brightness to the lowest usable level during your round and let the display timeout engage between shots — those two changes have the biggest impact on draw from this 750mAh cell.
