Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

VeriFone e315 / e335 Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BPK087-300)
This 3.7V, 1300mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the original pack in VeriFone e315, e315M, e335, and e335M payment terminals. It matches the OEM dimensions of 64.00 × 41.80 × 4.40mm and uses the same BMS handshake protocol expected by the terminal's charge controller. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the terminal shuts down unexpectedly during transactions.
- e315 and e335 shared battery platform: Both the standard and M-variant terminals use the same battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — that is why one part number covers all four models. The charge IC on each reads cell voltage and temperature data from the same register addresses.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the VeriFone boot sequence, NFC tap events, and receipt print cycles on the bench. The BMS accepted the handshake without fault codes, and the charge controller entered constant-current phase as expected on both the e315 and e335 test units.
- First deployment tip for POS terminals: After fitting the battery, complete one full transaction cycle before putting the terminal into live service. The terminal maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the on-screen charge indicator correctly.
Terminal not completing PCI boot sequence after battery replacement
The VeriFone e315 runs a PCI-compliant security check on every cold boot. If the battery voltage is below approximately 3.5V when the terminal powers on, the processor may not sustain the boot sequence long enough to pass the security handshake. A new cell shipped in storage state can sit at 3.3–3.4V. Connect the terminal to the charging cradle or USB-C power source before the first boot and let it charge for at least 15 minutes before powering on — this brings the cell above the minimum operating threshold the firmware requires.
Charge indicator stuck at 99% during initial charge
On a fresh cell, the e315's charge IC enters a top-off mode once the cell reaches roughly 4.15V — it trickle-charges at low current rather than switching to the final 4.20V termination voltage immediately. The display holds at 99% during this phase, which can last 20–40 minutes depending on ambient temperature. This is normal charge IC behaviour, not a fault. Leave the terminal on charge until the indicator advances to 100% and the charging LED changes state.

Frequently Asked Questions
My VeriFone e315 reboots every time a receipt prints — is the new battery faulty?
Receipt printing pulls a sharp current spike from the motor driver, and if the BMS interprets that spike as an overcurrent event, it trips and momentarily cuts output — causing the reboot. We saw this on the bench when the cell was below 50% charge on first use. Charge the terminal fully before running print-heavy sessions. Once the cell has completed two or three full charge cycles, the BMS learns the load profile and the trips stop.
The e335 has been sitting in a drawer unused for months and now won't power on at all — what's happening?
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month, so after several months in storage the cell voltage can drop below 3.0V — the point at which the BMS locks output to prevent deep-discharge damage. Connect the terminal to a charger and leave it for 30–45 minutes without attempting to power it on. Most VeriFone charge controllers will initiate a recovery trickle charge at low current to bring the cell back above 3.2V, after which normal charging resumes and the terminal will boot.
The e315 feels noticeably warm during a busy transaction period — is that a problem with this battery?
Heat during heavy use is a combined load effect: the display backlight, wireless radio, NFC reader, and receipt printer all draw from the same 3.7V cell simultaneously. The cell temperature rising to 35–40°C under that combined load is within normal operating range for Li-Polymer chemistry. If the terminal feels hot to the touch rather than warm, check that the battery contacts are seating cleanly — a high-resistance connection forces the cell to work harder and generates excess heat. Clean the gold contact pads with a dry cloth and reseat the battery.
