Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

VeriFone iPay E355 — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BPK087-500)

This is a 3.8V 1950mAh Li-ion battery for the VeriFone iPay E355 mobile payment terminal. It replaces OEM part BPK087-500 and BPK087-500-01-A. The E355 is a portable POS device used by merchants to process card payments wirelessly at counters, tables, and mobile sales environments.

  • iPay E355 and e355 compatibility: Both model designations refer to the same hardware platform. They share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — this cell fits both without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the E355 through card-present transaction cycles, including print and wireless bursts. The BMS accepted the cell without a fault flag, and charge IC entered top-off mode as expected on a new cell at first charge.
  • First deployment tip for the E355: After installation, run at least one complete transaction cycle — payment capture through receipt print — before going live. The terminal maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs one full power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator correctly.

Terminal not completing PCI boot sequence after battery swap

The E355 runs a PCI security boot check on every power-on. If the battery voltage is below the terminal's acceptance threshold, the boot sequence stalls before the OS loads. A new cell shipped in storage state may sit at 3.4V or lower. Connect the terminal to the VeriFone charger and allow it to reach at least 3.6V before attempting to boot. One full charge cycle usually resolves the stall permanently.

Battery indicator stuck at 99% on the E355 display

This is a charge IC behaviour on new lithium cells, not a fault. The E355's charge controller enters a top-off phase near full capacity and holds the displayed percentage until the cell voltage stabilises at 4.2V. The indicator stays at 99% during this phase, which can last 20–40 minutes on a fresh cell. Once the charge IC exits top-off mode and the terminal completes one full discharge-charge cycle, the percentage display tracks normally. No action needed beyond that first cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My VeriFone E355 reboots every time I print a receipt — is the battery causing this?

Yes. The receipt printer draws a sharp current spike at the start of each print job. If the BMS in a worn or under-charged cell reads that spike as an overcurrent event, it trips and cuts power momentarily — the terminal reads that as a hard reset. A new cell with a healthy BMS handles the printer load without tripping. Charge the replacement fully before testing; a partially charged new cell can still trigger the same behaviour.

My E355 won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for a few months — is the battery dead?

Self-discharge on a stored Li-ion cell can drop voltage below the terminal's minimum power-on threshold, typically around 3.2V. At that point the E355 won't respond to the power button at all — it looks completely dead. Connect it to the charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before pressing power; most cells recover once the charge IC pushes the voltage back above 3.4V. If the terminal still won't boot after a full hour on charge, the cell has likely discharged past recovery and needs replacement.

The E355 feels noticeably warm during a busy transaction period — is something wrong?

Warm is normal under combined load. During peak use the terminal runs the wireless radio, touchscreen, and printer simultaneously — that combined draw generates heat in both the cell and the charging circuitry. The concern is hot, not warm. If the rear casing becomes uncomfortable to hold, the BMS thermal sensor may be allowing sustained draw beyond safe operating temperature. Check that the terminal isn't enclosed in a tight case or holder blocking airflow, and verify the battery contacts are clean and fully seated.
