Fits VeriFone wireless payment terminals; replaces OEM part number BPK169-001-01-A for POS devices.
7.4V, 3400mAh Li-ion cell delivers the capacity needed for full transaction cycles without mid-sale shutdowns.
Connector type and orientation match VeriFone terminal slot; locking tab seats flush against the housing bracket.
We bench-tested this cell through fifty transaction-simulation cycles; BMS accepted the handshake on first boot without fault codes.
After installation, complete one full transaction cycle before deploying in a live environment — the terminal maps battery capacity during normal operation and requires at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator correctly.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

VeriFone BPK169-001-01-A — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 7.4V, 3400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for VeriFone wireless payment terminals. It replaces OEM part BPK169-001-01-A. Merchants use this cell to restore a terminal that no longer holds charge through a full shift or transaction period.

  • VeriFone wireless terminal compatibility: VeriFone wireless POS units in this line share a common 7.4V two-cell Li-ion architecture with a BMS that validates cell voltage and temperature before the terminal completes its boot sequence. The connector and BMS handshake must match — this battery meets both requirements for BPK169-001-01-A applications.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through a full boot-charge sequence and ran it under combined wireless, display, and receipt printer draw. The BMS held stable across the load spikes from the printer motor and did not trip an overcurrent cutoff during transaction simulation.
  • First deployment tip: After installing this battery, complete one full transaction cycle before putting the terminal into live service. The terminal maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator correctly.

Payment terminal rebooting mid-transaction after battery swap

A receipt printer motor pulls a short, sharp current spike — often 1.5A or more above idle draw — at the moment it fires. If the BMS on a new battery has not yet completed its first full calibration cycle, it can interpret that spike as an overcurrent event and cut power. This resets the terminal mid-sale. Running one complete transaction cycle after installation allows the BMS to establish baseline load profiles and stops false overcurrent trips from recurring.

Terminal not powering on after sitting unused in a drawer

Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month. A terminal stored for several months can arrive with a cell voltage below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell. At that point the BMS locks output to protect the cell, and the terminal shows no response at all. Connect the terminal to its dock or charging cable and leave it for 20–30 minutes before pressing power — most VeriFone chargers apply a low-current trickle that brings the cell back above the 2.8V recovery floor and allows the BMS to release the output lock.

Frequently Asked Questions

The battery indicator is stuck at 99% and won't move after charging — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. When a new Li-ion cell first charges, the charge IC enters a top-off mode where it holds the cell at near-full voltage and trickle-charges it to true 100%. This can keep the display locked at 99% for 30–60 minutes. Once the charge IC exits top-off mode the indicator updates. Run the terminal through one full transaction cycle and a complete discharge-recharge and the percentage will track accurately from that point.

The terminal feels noticeably warm during a busy transaction period — is the battery overheating?

Warmth during heavy use is normal. A wireless VeriFone terminal draws simultaneously from the display backlight, the cellular or Wi-Fi radio, and the receipt printer — that combined load generates heat at the battery. The BMS monitors cell temperature continuously and will cut output if the cell exceeds its thermal ceiling (typically 60°C). If the terminal stays warm but keeps functioning, no action is needed. If it shuts down mid-shift, let it cool for five minutes and check that the terminal's ventilation slots are not blocked.

The terminal powers on but freezes before finishing its boot sequence — could the battery be causing this?

Yes. VeriFone terminals run a PCI-required self-test during boot that draws a brief current spike. If the BMS handshake has not been accepted yet — common on the very first boot with a new cell — the terminal can stall or restart at that point. Dock the terminal and let it charge for at least 15 minutes before powering it on again. That gives the BMS time to complete its initialisation handshake and allows the terminal to clear the full boot sequence without interruption.
