Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Verizon Jetpack 890L — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (Li3717T42P3h654458)
This is a 3.7V, 1750mAh Li-ion battery for the Verizon Jetpack 890L mobile hotspot. It fits the Jetpack 890L, Jetpack 890L 4G LTE, and Hotspot 890L variants. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds enough charge to get through a full day of shared mobile internet use.
- Jetpack 890L series fit: All variants in the 890L line share the same battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. The modem and Wi-Fi radio both draw from this single cell, so the BMS must handle combined load spikes — this replacement carries the same charge termination and protection thresholds as the OEM unit.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on a Jetpack 890L with five simultaneous connected clients. The BMS held cutoff at the correct low-voltage threshold and did not trip under the combined modem-plus-radio draw at maximum connections.
- Ventilation during extended sessions: Keep the hotspot in an open, ventilated spot when using it for long periods. When connected devices are far from the hotspot, the cellular radio runs at maximum transmit power — sustained output raises internal temperature and accelerates cell wear faster than any other use pattern on this device.
Why the Jetpack 890L disconnects users mid-session under maximum load
The 890L runs its LTE modem and Wi-Fi radio simultaneously from a single 3.7V cell. When five clients are connected and signal conditions are poor, both radios ramp to peak draw at the same time. A degraded or partially discharged cell cannot sustain that combined current without voltage sagging below the BMS cutoff threshold, which shuts the device down abruptly. A fresh cell at full charge holds the rail steady through those simultaneous peak draws.
Jetpack 890L won't boot after sitting unused for several weeks
Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month even with no load, and the 890L's standby circuitry adds a small continuous drain on top of that. Left long enough, the cell drops below the minimum boot voltage — typically around 3.0V — and the BMS blocks the power-on sequence entirely to prevent damage. Plugging in via USB and leaving it on charge for at least 30 minutes usually recovers the cell enough to boot. If the charge LED does not activate within five minutes of connecting the charger, the cell has likely gone below recoverable voltage and needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Jetpack 890L battery drains in a fraction of the time when I'm using it in a weak signal area — is something wrong with the replacement cell?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. In low-signal areas the LTE modem increases transmit power to maintain the network connection, which significantly raises current draw from the battery. Add multiple connected devices on top of that and total draw can be two to three times higher than in a strong-signal location. Move the hotspot closer to a window or to a spot with stronger signal and you will see a noticeable difference in how long the charge lasts.
The Jetpack 890L shows a charging indicator but the battery percentage barely moves after an hour on the charger — what's happening?
This usually means the cell was deeply discharged before charging started. The BMS enters a trickle-charge recovery phase at very low voltages, delivering a reduced current until the cell climbs above roughly 3.0V, at which point full charge rate resumes. That trickle phase can take 20–40 minutes before the percentage readout begins moving noticeably. Leave the device plugged in and undisturbed for at least 90 minutes total — if the indicator still shows no progress after that, check that the USB cable and charger are delivering adequate output (a 1A or higher adapter is recommended).
The Jetpack 890L feels noticeably warm during long sessions and then shuts off unexpectedly — is this a battery fault?
Warmth during extended sessions is normal, but thermal shutdown happens when internal temperature exceeds the BMS safety threshold. The cellular radio generates the most heat when it is working hardest — poor signal conditions or many connected clients both push it toward maximum output. Set the hotspot on a hard, flat surface in open air rather than inside a bag or pocket during long sessions. If shutdowns continue at moderate temperatures with few connected devices, check that the battery contacts are clean and making full contact, as a high-resistance connection generates additional localised heat.
