Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Verizon Orbic Speed 5G — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BTE-4401)
This 3.8V, 4800mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the original BTE-4401 cell in the Verizon Orbic Speed 5G mobile hotspot. The Orbic Speed 5G is a portable wireless hotspot that delivers 5G connectivity to multiple connected devices simultaneously. Swap this battery when the original no longer holds sufficient charge to get through a full session.
- Orbic Speed 5G / R500L5 fitment: Both model references point to the same hardware revision — same 3.8V power rail, same connector, same BMS handshake protocol. One battery covers both listings.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell under a combined 5G modem and multi-client WiFi load. The BMS held the voltage rail stable across the draw spike at connection handoff and did not trip into protective cutoff during sustained transmission.
- Ventilation during extended hotspot sessions: When connected devices are far from the hotspot, the cellular radio runs at maximum output power. Keep the unit on a hard flat surface with airflow on all sides — blocking the back panel traps heat directly against the battery cell and accelerates capacity loss.
Why the Orbic Speed 5G drops connections mid-session on a new battery
When the hotspot serves the maximum number of connected clients, the combined draw of the 5G modem and the WiFi radio spikes simultaneously. If the cell has any internal resistance — even in a new battery that has not been conditioned — this spike can pull the voltage rail low enough to trigger BMS protection. The unit disconnects all clients and may appear to reboot. Running two or three full charge-discharge cycles brings cell resistance down and stabilises voltage delivery under peak load.
Orbic Speed 5G won't power on after sitting unused for weeks
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month, but the hotspot's standby circuit adds a small continuous drain on top of that. After several weeks in storage, the cell can drop below the minimum boot voltage — typically around 3.0V per cell — and the BMS will block discharge to prevent damage. Plug into a wall charger, not a USB port, and leave it connected for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on. If the charge indicator does not light within five minutes of plugging in, the cell has likely recovered past the BMS floor and charging is proceeding normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Orbic Speed 5G battery drains way faster when I'm in a weak signal area — is the battery faulty?
The battery is behaving normally, but the drain rate is not. In poor signal conditions the 5G modem ramps to maximum radio output power trying to maintain the connection, which can draw 30–50% more current than in a strong-signal environment. Add multiple connected devices on top of that and the 4800mAh cell depletes noticeably faster than rated. Move the hotspot closer to a window or position it higher in the room to improve signal strength and reduce radio power output.
The hotspot shows charging but the battery percentage hasn't moved in over an hour — what's happening?
This usually means the cell voltage dropped low enough that the BMS switched to a trickle pre-charge phase before allowing full current. The percentage readout often stays flat during this phase because the device only updates the display once the cell crosses a threshold voltage — typically around 3.2V. Leave it on a wall charger undisturbed for 90 minutes and the percentage should begin climbing normally once pre-charge completes.
Does switching the Orbic Speed 5G from 5G mode to 4G LTE reduce how hard the battery works?
Yes, significantly. The 5G modem draws substantially more current than the 4G radio, particularly when holding a sub-6GHz 5G connection in a marginal coverage area. If the hotspot is being used in a fixed location with a reliable 4G LTE signal available, locking it to LTE mode reduces radio power consumption and lowers the sustained temperature of the battery cell. Access the band selection setting in the admin dashboard at 192.168.1.1 and set the network mode to LTE only.
