Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TCL MW513U — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 3.8V, 4300mAh Li-ion battery fits the TCL MW513U mobile hotspot. It replaces the original internal cell when the device no longer holds enough charge to maintain a usable session. Capacity figure is sourced from the product data — 16.34Wh total energy.
- MW513U platform fit: The MW513U combines a cellular modem and a Wi-Fi radio on a shared 3.8V supply rail. Both subsystems draw simultaneously under load, so the cell must sustain that combined current without triggering the BMS undervoltage cutoff. This replacement cell matches that voltage rail exactly.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the cell under simulated multi-device load — modem active, Wi-Fi broadcasting, five client connections. The BMS held the output rail stable and did not trip on connection spikes during our test cycles.
- Ventilation during extended sessions: Keep the hotspot on a hard, flat surface with airflow around it during long sessions. When the device is far from the cellular tower, the modem ramps to full transmit power — that sustained RF draw generates heat that accelerates cell wear over time.
MW513U disconnecting clients mid-session on a new battery
When the hotspot hits peak load — modem transmitting at full power while several devices are active — current draw spikes sharply. If the cell's internal resistance is elevated (common in aged cells), voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold and the unit drops all connections briefly. A fresh 4300mAh cell lowers internal resistance and widens the voltage headroom above that cutoff. If disconnections continue on a new cell, check that firmware is current — older firmware has aggressive BMS trip thresholds that a firmware update adjusts.
MW513U won't power on after sitting unused for weeks
Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly during storage. If the MW513U was left unpowered for an extended period, the cell may have dropped below the minimum boot voltage — typically around 3.0V — and the BMS locks out discharge to protect the cell. Connect the device to its original charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charger applies a low-current pre-charge phase to bring the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold, after which the device will boot normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
My TCL MW513U hotspot is draining the battery much faster than it used to — what's causing it?
The most common cause is poor cellular signal forcing the modem to run at maximum transmit power for extended periods. Add multiple connected devices on top of that, and current draw can be two to three times higher than in a strong-signal environment. Check the signal indicator on the hotspot — if it shows one or two bars, moving closer to a window or an external location will reduce radio output power and slow drain noticeably. If drain remains heavy in good signal conditions, the original cell has likely degraded past the point where capacity can be recovered.
The MW513U hotspot feels noticeably warm during long sessions — is that stressing the new battery?
Heat is a direct output of the cellular modem operating at high transmit power, and it does affect the battery cell over time. Li-ion cells age faster above 40°C, so sustained warmth shortens cycle life even in a new cell. Place the hotspot on a hard surface away from enclosed spaces like bags or car dashboards, and avoid stacking other devices on top of it. If the unit becomes hot to the touch rather than just warm, check whether the number of connected clients can be reduced — fewer active devices lowers the combined modem and Wi-Fi draw immediately.
After I replaced the battery, the MW513U shows charging but the indicator jumps around and won't settle — what's happening?
A new Li-ion cell needs several charge cycles before the fuel gauge calibration in the firmware aligns with actual cell capacity. The BMS is reading a cell with a different state-of-charge profile than the worn original, so the percentage estimate fluctuates while it recalibrates. Run the device through two full charge-to-low-battery cycles without interrupting — allow it to charge to 100% and then use it until it powers off on its own. After those cycles, the gauge reading stabilises because the firmware has mapped the new cell's voltage curve from 4.2V down to cutoff.
