Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Verizon Trophy (MWP6985 / MWP6985VW) — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 1000mAh Li-ion replacement cell for the Verizon Trophy smartphone. It fits the MWP6985 and MWP6985VW variants. Swap it in when the original cell can no longer hold voltage under screen or radio load.

  • MWP6985 and MWP6985VW fit: Both Trophy variants share the same physical cell dimensions (65.00 × 43.85 × 4.50mm), connector pinout, and 3.7V nominal voltage rail. One cell fits both boards without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Trophy mainboard. The charge IC accepted the cell without fault flags, and the BMS protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff — no runaway charge observed.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After fitting this cell, run one complete discharge down to auto-shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before normal use. The Trophy's fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — skipping this step causes the OS to report inaccurate percentages from the first boot.

Why the Trophy reports the wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The Trophy uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that builds its charge model from the previous cell's discharge history. When you install a new cell, that learned model no longer matches the actual discharge curve of the fresh cell. The OS reads the old model, not the real cell state, so it displays percentages that are out of step with actual charge. One full discharge-to-shutoff and uninterrupted recharge resets the coulomb counter against the new cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under high instantaneous load — typically when the CDMA radio transmits or the screen backlight peaks — faster than the fuel gauge IC predicted. The IC still shows 20–30% because it calculated remaining capacity from a flat part of the discharge curve, but the actual cell voltage has already collapsed below the minimum threshold the board will accept. The BMS then cuts power to protect the cell. Complete the recalibration cycle first; if shutdowns persist after that, check that the cell connector is fully seated and making clean contact at all three pins.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Trophy shuts off mid-call even though the battery showed 25% — why?

The CDMA radio in the Trophy draws a short burst of high current during transmission, and a degraded or uncalibrated cell cannot sustain voltage under that load. The cell voltage collapses below the board's cutoff threshold before the fuel gauge IC updates its display reading. This is a voltage-sag failure, not a capacity failure. Run one full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% — this recalibrates the fuel gauge so the reported percentage better reflects real cell voltage under load.

After fitting the new battery the percentage jumps around — 60%, then 45%, then back to 55% within minutes. What's happening?

The fuel gauge IC on the Trophy is still using the discharge curve it learned from the old, worn cell. A fresh cell has a different internal resistance and voltage profile, so the coulomb counter produces erratic readings until it builds a new model. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Discharge the phone fully until it shuts itself off, then charge it in one uninterrupted session to 100% — after that cycle the percentage readings stabilise.

The phone won't power on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months before installation. Is the cell dead?

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if the cell voltage dropped below approximately 2.5V the BMS will have entered a lockout state to prevent damage. The phone will not respond to the power button in this state. Connect the Trophy to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 30–45 minutes without pressing anything. A wall charger delivers enough current for the charge IC to trickle the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold, after which normal charging resumes and the phone will power on.
