Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Verizon Trophy (MWP6985 / MWP6985VW) — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V 3000mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Verizon Trophy smartphone. It fits the MWP6985 and MWP6985VW model variants. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds adequate charge through a normal day of calls and messaging.

  • Trophy platform fit: The MWP6985 and MWP6985VW share identical battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and charge IC handshake. Both variants accept this cell without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Trophy platform. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake on the first cycle, and the fuel gauge IC began tracking state-of-charge without false cutoffs.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, run one complete discharge down to phone shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before normal use. This gives the Trophy's fuel gauge IC a full curve reference against the new cell — skipping this step causes percentage jumps in early cycles.

Why the Trophy reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The Trophy uses a fuel gauge IC that builds its state-of-charge model from the discharge curve of the installed cell. When you swap in a new cell, that learned curve is now mismatched — the IC is still referencing the old degraded cell's profile. The result is percentage readings that jump, stall, or report full charge while the phone actually sits closer to 3.6V. One full discharge-charge cycle rewrites the reference curve to match the new cell's actual voltage behaviour.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the modem or display draws a high current pulse and the cell voltage drops sharply — crossing the hardware undervoltage threshold before the reported percentage reaches zero. It is a voltage sag issue, not a capacity issue. The fuel gauge IC sees 25% remaining but the instantaneous voltage dips below 3.2V under load and the protection circuit cuts output. After the first full calibration cycle, the IC adjusts its low-end threshold to match the new cell's internal resistance and the premature shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Verizon Trophy shuts off suddenly at around 25% battery — is the new cell faulty?

This is a voltage sag cutoff, not a defective cell. Under a high-current load — modem transmitting, screen at full brightness — the cell voltage drops sharply and crosses the hardware undervoltage threshold before the percentage gauge reaches zero. The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's internal resistance profile. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%, and the IC recalibrates its low-end voltage map to the new cell.

The Trophy's battery percentage jumps erratically — it reads 60%, then drops to 35% with no use. What causes this?

The coulomb counter inside the Trophy's fuel gauge IC was calibrated against the old, degraded cell. With a new cell installed, the discharge curve no longer matches the stored reference, so the IC misreads state-of-charge and produces erratic jumps. This is not a wiring or connector problem. Fully discharge the phone until it shuts itself off, then charge to 100% in a single uninterrupted session — this writes a fresh curve to the fuel gauge IC and the percentage readings stabilise.

The phone won't power on at all after the new battery sat uninstalled in a drawer for months — is it bricked?

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage and can drop below 2.5V per cell, which triggers BMS lockout to prevent damage. The Trophy won't boot from a locked-out cell even if you press and hold the power button. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC applies a trickle current to bring the cell back above the 2.7V recovery threshold, at which point the BMS unlocks and the phone will power on normally.
