Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Olympia Brio — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (DRTEL-4D-01)

This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion cell (4.44Wh) for the Olympia Brio mobile phone. It replaces OEM part number DRTEL-4D-01 and fits directly into the Brio's battery bay. Dimensions are 60.00 × 43.80 × 4.50mm — verify these against your existing cell before ordering.

  • Olympia Brio compatibility: The Brio uses a single-cell 3.7V nominal architecture. This cell matches the voltage rail, physical footprint, and connector orientation the phone's charge IC expects. No modification required.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full charge and discharge on the bench. The BMS held the charge termination voltage correctly and passed charge-current data to the phone without triggering an error state.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging for the first full discharge-charge cycle. The Brio's fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. One complete cycle at standard current lets it map the new cell accurately before higher charge rates are applied.

Why the Brio reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The Brio uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that tracks charge in and out relative to a stored discharge curve. When you swap to a new cell, that stored curve no longer matches the new cell's actual characteristics. The phone reads state-of-charge against the wrong reference, so the percentage display drifts. One full discharge to auto-off followed by a complete charge to 100% resets the reference and brings the gauge back into alignment.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens because the new cell's internal resistance is slightly different from the depleted original. Under modem transmission or screen-on load, the voltage drops sharply below the BMS cutoff threshold even though the displayed percentage looks safe. The phone interprets this voltage cliff as a fault and shuts down. Run two full discharge-charge cycles to let the fuel gauge IC re-anchor its low-voltage endpoint — target a resting cell voltage of 3.6–3.7V at the 30% mark after calibration.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Olympia Brio won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for months — is the new battery dead too?

A cell that has been in storage or left deeply discharged can drop below 2.5V, which triggers BMS lockout — the battery refuses to output current as a protection measure. Connect the phone to a wall charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button; the charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage climbs above the BMS re-enable threshold. If the screen shows a charging indicator after that window, the cell is recovering — continue charging to 100% before first use.

The Brio's battery percentage jumps around erratically — it went from 45% to 12% in two minutes without heavy use.

This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against the new cell's discharge curve after a swap. The coulomb counter has a stale reference from the old cell and cannot accurately map where the new cell sits in its charge cycle. Run one complete discharge to auto-off and a full charge back to 100% without interruption. After that single calibration cycle, the percentage readings stabilise against the actual cell curve.

Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery — the phone only trickle charges now.

On the first cycle after a cell replacement, some charge controllers default to standard current until the BMS confirms the new cell is within safe parameters. The USB charge protocol negotiation can also reset, falling back to 5V standard input. Disconnect the charger, power the phone off completely, reconnect to the charger, and allow a full charge at standard rate. On the next charge session, fast charging typically re-engages once the charge IC has logged one clean cycle against the new cell.
