Fits Vertu Ascent smartphones; replaces OEM part number BL-4V.
3.7V, 900mAh Li-ion cell restores full capacity to the Ascent's processor, display, and modem.
Connector slides into the battery slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab seats flush against frame.
We bench-tested the BMS on a 0.5A charge cycle; fuel gauge IC accepted the new cell without fault codes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging resumes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Vertu Ascent — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL-4V)

This is a 3.7V, 900mAh Li-ion replacement cell for the Vertu Ascent smartphone. It fits the BL-4V battery slot directly and restores power to the phone's processor, display, and radio stack. Capacity is 900mAh (3.33Wh) — matched to the original specification.

  • Vertu Ascent BL-4V fit: The Ascent uses a specific form factor — 53.00 x 34.00 x 4.80mm — with a connector pinout that carries both power and battery ID data. This cell matches that footprint and pin layout so the phone's power management IC reads the battery correctly on boot.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the Ascent platform. The BMS accepted the cell without triggering a fault flag, and the charge IC reached termination current without cutoff errors.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC build an accurate discharge curve against the new cell before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This is a voltage cliff symptom. The Ascent's modem and display draw current spikes that cause a fresh cell's terminal voltage to sag below the low-voltage cutoff threshold before the fuel gauge reads empty. The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's internal resistance curve, so the percentage displayed doesn't reflect actual cell voltage under load. Run one full discharge down to automatic power-off, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the coulomb counter baseline against the new cell.

Phone not powering on after the battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells stored unused can self-discharge below 2.5V per cell, which triggers a BMS lockout to prevent damage. The Ascent will show no response — no boot screen, no charge indicator — when plugged in immediately after this state. Connect the phone to a low-current USB charger (500mA wall adapter, not a fast charger) and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. Once the BMS detects sufficient voltage recovery, typically above 2.8V, the charge IC resumes normal operation and the phone will respond.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Vertu Ascent shows 25% battery then cuts off without warning — is the new cell faulty?

The cell is not faulty. This is a voltage cliff: under the combined load of the radio and display, the cell's terminal voltage drops sharply before the fuel gauge reads zero. The fuel gauge IC is still locked to the old cell's discharge curve. Run one full cycle — drain to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% uninterrupted — and the coulomb counter will recalibrate to the new cell's actual voltage behaviour.

The battery percentage on my Ascent keeps jumping around after fitting the replacement — 60% one minute, 45% the next.

The fuel gauge IC lost its reference curve when the old cell was removed. It is now estimating charge state against a curve it built for a degraded cell, so readings are erratic. One complete discharge-to-shutoff followed by a full uninterrupted charge resets the coulomb counter. After that single cycle, percentage readings stabilise against the new cell's actual capacity.

The Vertu Ascent feels warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges — should I stop charging it?

Mild warmth on the first two or three charge cycles is normal with a new cell. A fresh Li-ion cell has slightly higher impedance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC delivers more voltage to push current in — this generates heat at the cell surface. If the phone becomes uncomfortable to hold or charge stops before 100%, remove it from the charger and let it cool to room temperature before resuming. After three cycles, impedance drops and warmth during charging should be negligible.
