Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Wahl Cordless Magic Clip / Designer / Super Taper Cordless — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (93837-001)
This 3.7V 2600mAh lithium-ion cell replaces part number 93837-001 in Wahl cordless clippers. It fits the Cordless Magic Clip, Designer, Sterling 4, Super Taper Cordless, and over fifteen other Wahl cordless models that share the same battery bay and BMS handshake. Capacity is rated at 9.62Wh — matching the original cell specification.
- Multi-model fitment across Wahl cordless platforms: The Cordless Magic Clip, Designer, Sterling 4, and Super Taper Cordless all run the same 3.7V cell architecture with an identical connector and BMS communication protocol — which is why one part number covers the entire range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Cordless Magic Clip's charge and discharge sequence. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, held charge at 4.2V at full capacity, and cut off cleanly at the low-voltage threshold without triggering a false empty indicator.
- Clipper-specific charging tip: Wahl cordless clippers use a standing charge dock rather than a capped port — if hair clippings or product residue build up on the base contacts, the BMS reads intermittent connection as a fault and stops charging before the cell is full. Clean the dock contacts with isopropyl alcohol before assuming the battery is defective.
Capacity fade from daily partial cycling on Wahl cordless clippers
Most professional users plug the clipper back into the dock after every client — sometimes after only twenty percent discharge. Li-ion cells in shallow-cycle use lose their ability to track true state-of-charge over time. The BMS calibration drifts, so the indicator shows half-full when the cell is closer to empty. A full discharge down to the BMS cutoff voltage followed by a complete charge to 4.2V recalibrates the fuel gauge and restores accurate indicator behaviour.
Motor speed drops mid-cut before the low-battery indicator lights
The Wahl cordless clipper motor draws a surge of current when it bites into thick or coarse hair. If the cell has aged or the internal resistance has risen, that momentary high-draw causes the cell voltage to sag below the motor's operating threshold before the BMS triggers the low-battery warning. The clipper slows or stalls even though the indicator still shows charge remaining. Replacing the cell resolves this — internal resistance on a fresh 2600mAh cell is low enough to sustain the motor's peak draw without a voltage sag event.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Wahl Magic Clip motor slows down and loses power mid-cut even though the battery indicator still shows charge — what's happening?
This is a voltage sag fault, not an indicator fault. As a Li-ion cell ages, its internal resistance rises. Under the high current draw of the clipper motor — especially cutting through coarse hair — the cell voltage drops below the motor's minimum operating level before the BMS triggers the low-battery signal. The indicator reads cell voltage at rest, not under load, so it shows charge remaining while the motor is already starved. Fit a new cell and the sag disappears; a fresh 2600mAh cell at 3.7V nominal handles the motor's peak draw without dropping below threshold.
My Wahl cordless clipper stopped charging in the dock overnight — is the dock or the battery at fault?
Check the dock contacts first. Wahl's standing-charge dock uses exposed metal pins that oxidise quickly when exposed to clipper oil, hair product spray, or cleaning fluid. Oxidised contacts create enough resistance that the BMS treats the connection as intermittent and halts charging. Wipe both the dock pins and the matching contacts on the clipper base with a cotton swab soaked in isopropyl alcohol, let them dry fully, then reseat the clipper. If charging resumes, the dock was the fault — not the battery.
My Wahl clipper's battery indicator drifts and shows full charge after only a short time on the dock, but the clipper cuts out far sooner than it used to — why is the gauge lying?
Daily shallow cycling is the cause. When the clipper is docked after only a small discharge and recharged repeatedly, the BMS loses accurate state-of-charge calibration — it maps "full" to a lower actual capacity than the cell holds. The indicator reports full because the BMS logged a complete charge cycle, but the usable capacity delivered to the motor is significantly less. Run the clipper until the BMS cutoff triggers and the unit stops completely, then charge uninterrupted to 4.2V — one full cycle resets the calibration and brings the indicator back into alignment with real capacity.
