Fits Wahl Pro 9550 and Sterling Eclipse 8725 cordless clippers; replaces OEM part 93151, 93151-001, 93153.
2.4V, 1200mAh Ni-MH pack delivers steady voltage to the clipper motor throughout a full cutting session.
Battery slides into the handle slot with a single-stage locking tab; connector is two-pin, keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
We bench-tested this cell in a Pro 9550 under load — voltage held flat until cutoff, no sag.
On first charge after installation, run the clipper unplugged for five seconds to let the motor contacts settle before plugging in to charge.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Wahl Pro 9550 / Sterling Eclipse 8725 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (93151)

This is a 2.4V 1200mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Wahl Pro 9550 cordless clipper and Sterling Eclipse 8725. It slots into the same housing as the original cell and connects to the same charging circuit. Capacity is rated at 1200mAh (2.88Wh), matching the original specification.

  • Pro 9550 and Sterling Eclipse 8725 compatibility: Both models share the same 2.4V single-cell Ni-MH architecture, identical connector orientation, and the same BMS handshake threshold. One battery fits both without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Pro 9550 charging circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge without flagging a fault. Motor engagement at full load held voltage above the cutoff floor across repeated draw cycles.
  • Clipper motor load and cell conditioning: Ni-MH cells in high-draw clipper applications develop memory effect faster when topped off daily at partial state. Run the clipper to the low-indicator point, then charge fully — this keeps the cell's usable capacity from drifting below its rated floor.

Capacity fade from daily partial charging on the Pro 9550

Ni-MH cells are more susceptible to voltage depression than Li-ion. When the Pro 9550 is charged from 50–60% daily, the cell memorises that upper band as its full range. Over weeks, the clipper starts cutting out earlier — even though the indicator still shows charge remaining. This is not a charger fault or a BMS trip. It's the cell's usable window narrowing. Running full discharge and recharge cycles periodically resets the voltage floor back toward the rated 2.4V baseline.

Charging port fault after water or product exposure

Cleaning spray or water residue bridging the charging contacts on the clipper's base causes the BMS to register a protection trip — the device shows as dead rather than as a charging error. Before connecting to the charger after any wet cleaning, dry the contact pins completely with a dry cloth. If the clipper won't charge after drying, place it on the charger, wait 60 seconds, remove it, and reconnect — this clears most BMS latched-fault states. If voltage at the contacts reads below 1.8V after that sequence, the cell has discharged past recovery and needs replacing.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Wahl Pro 9550 slows down mid-haircut but the battery indicator still shows half full — what's happening?

This is voltage sag under motor load, not an indicator fault. When the Ni-MH cell ages, its internal resistance rises and voltage drops sharply the moment the motor draws current — even if the resting voltage looks fine. The clipper's motor controller hits its minimum voltage threshold and throttles back before the indicator catches up. Run a full discharge-to-cutoff cycle followed by a complete charge, and check whether full speed returns; if it doesn't, the cell's capacity has dropped below a usable level and replacement is the fix.

The Pro 9550 won't charge in its dock after I cleaned it — is the battery dead?

Probably not the battery. Cleaning product or moisture across the dock contacts can trigger a BMS protection latch, which the clipper reports as a dead battery rather than a charging fault. Dry the contact pins on both the clipper and the dock thoroughly, then place the clipper on the dock, leave it for 60 seconds, lift it off, and reseat it. That sequence clears most latched faults; if charging resumes, the cell was fine all along.

My Pro 9550 gets noticeably warm during a long cut — is that a battery problem or a motor problem?

Both contribute. A Ni-MH cell discharging at high current generates heat, and in the Pro 9550's compact housing that heat has nowhere to go except into the grip. An aged cell with rising internal resistance produces more heat per amp than a fresh one. If the warmth is concentrated near the base rather than the blade head, the cell is the primary source. Let the clipper cool to room temperature between extended sessions to prevent the BMS from tripping on thermal protection before the charge is actually depleted.
