Fits Remington R9 electric shaver, replaces original 3.7V lithium-ion cell that no longer holds charge.
3.7V, 700mAh capacity delivers stable voltage to the rotary motor during full beard-trimming cycles without early cutoff.
Cylindrical cell fits the battery compartment with standard contact pins; no locking tab, slides in and seats flush.
We ran load cycles on the motor under normal trimming resistance — BMS stayed active across the full discharge curve with no premature shutdown.
On first use, charge the shaver fully in the dock before operation, then run one complete cycle to allow the BMS to calibrate the fuel gauge for accurate low-battery indication.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Remington R9 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 700mAh lithium-ion cell that replaces the original battery in the Remington R9 electric shaver. It restores cordless operation when the existing cell no longer holds a charge. Fits the R9 rotary shaver platform specifically.

  • R9 platform fit: The R9 uses a single cylindrical Li-ion cell at 3.7V nominal. The BMS in the shaver monitors cell voltage directly — swapping in a cell outside that voltage window triggers a protection fault. This replacement matches the original voltage and physical dimensions (49.60 × 15.00 × 14.10mm) so the BMS handshake completes correctly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the R9 shaver platform. The BMS accepted the cell without triggering low-voltage lockout. Charge acceptance was clean across the full 700mAh capacity with no thermal anomalies at the housing.
  • Charging port care for the R9: The R9 is used near water. Dry the charging port completely before connecting the charger — moisture bridging the contacts causes a BMS protection trip the device reports as a dead battery, not a charging error. A few seconds with a dry cloth before docking prevents this entirely.

Capacity fade from daily partial charging on the R9

Most R9 users charge the shaver overnight after a single daily use — often before the cell is meaningfully depleted. Li-ion cells cycled repeatedly through shallow charge windows develop a narrowed effective capacity over time. The cell's state-of-charge tracking drifts, so the indicator reads full while actual delivered capacity is lower. Replacing the cell resets this — but resuming daily partial-charge habits will repeat the pattern within 12–18 months.

Shaver motor speed dropping before the indicator shows low

The R9 motor draws a spike of current at startup and again when cutting through thicker hair. A degraded cell cannot hold voltage under that load — it sags below the motor's operating threshold before the BMS would normally trigger a low-battery cutoff. The indicator still shows partial charge because resting voltage recovers between cuts. If the motor audibly slows mid-use while the indicator reads above empty, the cell's internal resistance has risen and replacement is the fix.

Frequently Asked Questions

My R9 shaver shows a full charge but the motor slows down halfway through — why?

The motor draws a short current spike when it hits resistance, and an ageing cell cannot hold voltage under that load even if resting voltage looks fine. The indicator reads the cell at rest, not under load, so it shows partial or full charge while the motor is already starved. Internal resistance in the cell has risen to the point where it can no longer deliver the current the motor needs. Replacing the cell is the only fix — a charger cycle will not recover it.

The R9 stopped charging after I rinsed the head — is the battery dead or is it something else?

Water in the charging port bridges the contacts and triggers a BMS protection trip inside the shaver. The device reports this as a dead or absent battery, not a charging fault, which sends most people straight to a battery replacement. Dry the port thoroughly — a dry cloth held against the port for 30 seconds, then 10 minutes air dry — before connecting the charger again. If the shaver then charges normally, the original cell may still be serviceable.

My R9 battery fades faster every few months even though I charge it every night — is that normal?

Charging nightly before the cell is meaningfully depleted is the direct cause. Li-ion cells cycled through shallow charge windows repeatedly lose their effective capacity as the active chemistry in the cell compresses into a narrower voltage range. The indicator drifts out of calibration at the same time, so the shaver appears to charge fully but delivers less. Let the shaver run down closer to the low-battery indicator before charging — this widens the charge window and slows capacity fade on the replacement cell.
