Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Wiko Rakuten Hand — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (TPJ21J11P)
This is a 3.85V, 2600mAh (10.01Wh) Li-Polymer cell for the Rakuten Hand smartphone, including the TD-LTE JP and P710 variants. It slots into the same bay as the original TPJ21J11P and connects to the same charge IC and fuel gauge circuitry. If the original cell is swelling, dropping off charge quickly, or causing unexpected shutdowns, this is the direct swap.
- Rakuten Hand / P710 platform fit: The Rakuten Hand, Rakuten Hand TD-LTE JP, and P710 all share the same battery bay dimensions and connector pinout. The BMS on this cell communicates with the same charge IC across those variants, so voltage regulation and charge termination work correctly on all three.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge on the Rakuten Hand platform. The BMS accepted handshake from the charge IC without triggering a fault, and charge termination cut off cleanly at full voltage without overrun.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle at standard current. The fuel gauge IC on the Rakuten Hand is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one slow cycle lets it remap against the new cell before high-current charging begins.
Why the Rakuten Hand shuts down suddenly at 20–30% after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC still holds the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When the new cell hits a load spike — modem transmission, screen wake, or GPS — voltage drops faster than the gauge expects, and the phone interprets that as a critical low-voltage event. The processor cuts power before the gauge registers the real state of charge. One full slow discharge-charge cycle forces the coulomb counter to rebuild its model against the new cell's actual voltage curve, and the shutdowns stop.
USB fast charge not activating on the first cycle after replacement
On the first charge after installation, the charge IC may not negotiate fast charge protocols with the new BMS — the controller defaults to standard 5V/1A input until it confirms the cell is within expected parameters. This is a deliberate protection behaviour, not a fault with the battery or the charger. Let the first charge complete at standard current. On the second cycle, the charge IC recognises the cell state and USB-PD or proprietary fast charge negotiation proceeds normally. If fast charge still does not activate after two full cycles, check the USB port for debris and confirm the charger outputs at least 18W.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Rakuten Hand is showing the wrong battery percentage after I put in the new battery — it jumped from 45% to 8% with no warning. What's going on?
The fuel gauge IC on the Rakuten Hand stores a discharge curve built from your old cell's behaviour — it does not automatically reset when you fit a new one. The percentage readout is calculated against that old curve, so it drifts badly until the IC recalibrates. Run one complete discharge (let the phone shut itself off naturally) followed by a full uninterrupted charge at standard current, no fast charging. After that single cycle the coulomb counter resets its baseline and the percentage readout tracks accurately.
My Rakuten Hand gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges after the swap — is that normal?
A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a run-in cell, so the charge IC pushes current into slightly more resistance on the first few cycles. That generates more heat than you will see once the cell is conditioned. Keep the phone out of a case for the first two or three charges so heat can dissipate. If the back becomes too hot to hold comfortably, or if charging stops before full, that is above normal — check that the USB cable is not damaged and that the charger output matches the phone's rated input.
The Rakuten Hand won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before I installed it — is the battery dead?
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage, and if the cell dropped below roughly 2.5V the BMS will have triggered a lockout to prevent damage to the cells. The phone will show nothing — no charging indicator, no boot — because the BMS blocks current flow until a minimum voltage threshold is met. Connect the phone to a known-good wall charger and leave it undisturbed for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on; the charge IC will trickle current into the cell until the BMS unlocks at approximately 3.0V, after which normal charging resumes.
