Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

WM Systems WMP 300 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BP85A)
This 3.7V 850mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the WM Systems WMP 300 and WMP-300 GPS navigator. It matches the OEM part number BP85A (1ICP7/31/52) and fits the same footprint at 51.80 × 30.22 × 5.70mm. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a charge or powers the unit through a full navigation session.
- WMP 300 / WMP-300 fit: Both model variants use the same board layout, connector, and 3.7V voltage rail. The BP85A cell works across both without modification — the BMS reads the same charge profile on either unit.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a GPS navigator platform. The BMS accepted full charge without fault flags, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold — no false shutoffs during normal draw.
- First-fix cold start after battery swap: After fitting this cell, power the WMP 300 fully on outdoors and let it acquire a satellite fix before relying on it. GPS units perform a cold start after any full power interruption — first fix can take 5–10 minutes while the receiver rebuilds its almanac. Subsequent warm starts run under a minute.
WMP 300 shutting off without warning at low battery
The WMP 300 battery indicator is calibrated against the original cell's discharge curve. A replacement cell with a slightly different curve can cause the unit to hit the hardware low-voltage cutoff before the on-screen warning triggers. The BMS cuts power at roughly 3.0V to protect the cell — the display may still show one bar at that point. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles after fitting the new cell to let the device recalibrate its fuel gauge against the actual discharge curve.
GPS accuracy dropping during active navigation on this battery
Some GPS navigators reduce receiver sensitivity as battery voltage sags toward the low end of the discharge curve — this is a firmware power-saving measure, not a fault with the cell. If position accuracy drops noticeably mid-route, check the battery indicator. Above 3.5V the receiver runs at full sensitivity. Keeping screen brightness at mid-level during active navigation reduces total draw and keeps voltage higher for longer across the session.

Frequently Asked Questions
My WMP 300 lost all saved routes after I swapped the battery — is there any way to get them back?
Saved routes and POIs on the WMP 300 are stored in battery-backed RAM, so a full power removal wipes that memory. Once the power is cut during a battery swap, that data is gone — it cannot be recovered from the cell itself. Going forward, export routes to a PC via the device's sync software before any battery work. Reload them after the new cell is fitted and the unit powers on cleanly.
Satellite lock is taking 5–10 minutes after fitting the new battery — is something wrong with the GPS receiver?
Nothing is wrong. A full power interruption forces a cold start, which means the GPS receiver has lost its almanac and ephemeris data and has to rebuild them from scratch by scanning all satellite frequencies. That process takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with clear sky view. Once the almanac is stored, warm starts from that point forward lock in under a minute. Leave the unit stationary outdoors for the first fix after the swap.
The WMP 300 is draining the new battery much faster when I'm actively navigating compared to when it's just sitting idle — is that normal?
Yes — active navigation draws from two power loads simultaneously: the GPS receiver tracking satellites and the display running at full brightness. Standby or sleep modes cut the display and reduce receiver polling, dropping draw significantly. Reduce screen brightness to 50–60% during navigation and the discharge rate will drop noticeably. If drain still seems excessive, confirm the unit is not stuck in a continuous satellite search loop — check that the signal bar shows a stable fix rather than a cycling search indicator.
