Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zafferano Poldina / Olivia / Ofelia / Dama — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BAT0470370670190)
This 3.7V, 5200mAh Li-ion cell replaces the internal battery in the Zafferano Poldina, Olivia, Ofelia, and Dama portable LED desk lamps. These lamps are cordless by design, so when the original cell degrades, the lamp either dims early, flickers, or stops holding charge altogether. Swapping this cell restores full wireless operation.
- Poldina family platform: The Poldina, Olivia, Ofelia, and Dama share the same internal battery bay dimensions and voltage rail. Zafferano uses a consistent 3.7V single-cell architecture across this lamp family, which is why one cell covers all four models. The BMS communication protocol and charge termination voltage are identical across the range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on a Poldina unit. The BMS accepted charge correctly, balanced to 4.2V at termination, and held voltage under both low-brightness and full-brightness LED driver loads without triggering protective cutoff.
- Brightness mode and current draw: The Poldina's touch dimmer steps through multiple brightness levels. Maximum brightness draws significantly more current than warm or mid-range settings. After fitting a new cell, run a full charge cycle before switching to maximum brightness — an uncalibrated cell at storage voltage can trigger the low-battery cutoff almost immediately at full draw.
Why the Poldina dims and shuts off before the indicator shows low battery
The Poldina's LED driver has a minimum input voltage threshold — typically around 3.0V for a single Li-ion cell. When the cell voltage sags under load, especially at full brightness, the driver drops out even if the battery indicator still shows partial charge. This is a load-voltage issue, not a gauge error. An aged cell with high internal resistance will sag further and faster than a fresh cell, causing premature shutoff. Fitting a new cell with lower internal resistance restores the voltage headroom the driver needs to stay on.
Lamp charges but returns to zero within minutes of unplugging
This symptom usually means the original cell has lost most of its usable capacity through deep-cycle degradation — the cell accepts charge but can no longer hold it under any real load. It is not a charger fault or a lamp fault. Confirm by charging fully and measuring open-circuit voltage at the battery terminals: a healthy cell reads 4.15–4.20V; anything below 3.8V after a full charge cycle indicates a spent cell. Replacing the cell is the only fix.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Poldina flickers and cuts out at what looks like half charge — why?
The LED driver inside the lamp cuts power when cell voltage drops below its minimum input threshold, even if the charge indicator hasn't reached empty. Under full or near-full brightness, a degraded cell sags in voltage faster than the indicator can track. The fix is a new cell — lower internal resistance means less voltage sag under load. After fitting the replacement, charge fully before first use so the BMS can calibrate to the new cell's capacity curve.
The lamp won't reach full brightness on the new battery — it just stays dim no matter what setting I choose.
A new Li-ion cell ships at storage voltage, typically around 3.6–3.7V, not a full 4.2V. At storage voltage, the LED driver can't deliver peak current to the LEDs, so maximum brightness is unavailable. This is not a fault with the cell or the lamp. Plug the lamp in and run a complete charge cycle first — once the cell reaches 4.2V, full brightness will be accessible.
USB charging takes much longer than normal when I leave the lamp switched on while it charges — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong — this is a current-sharing issue. The lamp's USB charge circuit and the LED driver both draw from the same input. When the lamp is on while charging, the LEDs consume a portion of the available charging current, leaving less to charge the cell. The cell still charges safely, just more slowly. Switch the lamp off during charging and the full input current goes to the cell, restoring normal charge speed.
