Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zebra EZ320 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (P1026078)
This 7.4V Li-ion battery replaces the Zebra P1026078 pack in the EZ320 handheld barcode scanner. It delivers 1200mAh (8.88Wh) of capacity to keep the scanner active through pick-and-pack shifts and inventory cycles. The EZ320 is used in retail and warehouse environments where scanner downtime directly stalls operations.
- EZ320 compatibility: The EZ320 uses a proprietary connector and BMS handshake tied to the P1026078 voltage profile. This pack matches that 7.4V nominal rail so the scanner firmware accepts it without throwing a battery fault on boot.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through scan-trigger inrush events and wireless polling loads simultaneously. The BMS held voltage steady and did not trip the low-voltage cutoff under combined draw conditions.
- First-shift preparation: After installing the new pack, seat the EZ320 in its charging cradle and run a full charge cycle before use. Scan-trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum — a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS trips at the start of the first shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
Cradle charging errors on a fresh pack are almost always a contact resistance problem, not a faulty battery. Dock contacts on high-use cradles accumulate oxidation and grime that block the charge handshake signal. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle slot with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat firmly. If the error clears within 30 seconds of reseating, the contacts were the cause — not the pack.
Scanner loses wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The EZ320 fires the imager and transmits data over wireless in near-simultaneous events during rapid scanning. That combined inrush — scan trigger plus radio transmit — pulls a short current spike that a degraded or deeply discharged pack cannot sustain without voltage sag. When voltage sags below the wireless module's operating floor, the connection drops. Keep the pack above 30% charge during high-frequency scan sessions to stay clear of that threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions
The EZ320 won't read barcodes after I swapped the battery — scan trigger fires but nothing registers
The imager needs a minimum voltage to fire at full power; if the replacement pack was shipped in storage-safe low-charge state, the cell voltage may be too low for a clean imager pulse. Place the scanner in its cradle and complete a full charge cycle before scanning. After charging, the imager draw will have a stable voltage rail to pull from and scans should register normally. If it still fails after a full charge, check that the battery is fully seated and the contacts are clean.
The scanner feels noticeably warm after a full shift — is that a battery problem?
Warmth after a sustained shift is normal for the EZ320 housing because the scan engine, wireless radio, and battery are all enclosed with minimal airflow. However, if the pack itself is hot to the touch rather than the housing, the cell may be drawing elevated current due to internal resistance buildup — a sign the original pack has degraded and this new one is now doing all the work. Monitor pack temperature at the end of a second full shift once the new battery has two or three full charge cycles on it. If the housing warmth drops, the old pack was the source.
New pack charged fine but shift endurance is shorter than expected compared to the old battery
A new Li-ion cell at factory charge has not been through a full conditioning cycle yet. Run two to three complete charge-and-discharge cycles under normal scan workloads before judging capacity — cells typically reach rated capacity around the third cycle. Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval both compound draw faster than light scanning, so high-frequency pick-and-pack work will reduce usable shift time compared to intermittent use. If endurance is still noticeably short after three cycles, verify the cradle is terminating charge correctly and not cutting off early due to contact resistance.
