Fits ZOPO ZP980, ZP980+, C2, and C3 smartphones; replaces OEM part numbers BT78S and BT78T.
3.7V lithium-ion cell rated 1900mAh delivers sufficient capacity for calls, messaging, and standard app use on this device.
Connector matches the ZP980 battery slot with standard Li-ion contact orientation; no adapter or modification needed.
We ran full discharge cycles on the bench; BMS accepted charge without fault codes and voltage held steady under load.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates to this cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ZOPO ZP980 / ZP980+ Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BT78S / BT78T)

This is a 3.7V, 1900mAh Li-ion cell that fits the ZOPO ZP980, ZP980+, C2, and C3 smartphones. It replaces OEM part numbers BT78S and BT78T. If your original cell swells, won't hold a charge, or drops out unexpectedly, this is the direct swap.

  • ZP980 and ZP980+ platform fitment: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell covers both variants without adapter or modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on ZP980 hardware. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, and the charge IC held current limits within spec throughout each cycle.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This gives the fuel gauge IC time to map the new cell's discharge curve before any high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still running its algorithm against the old cell's discharge curve. The new cell hits a voltage cliff under modem or screen load — the IC reads it as 20% remaining but the cell is already below the cutoff threshold. The phone shuts down to protect the cell, even though the percentage display looked safe. One full discharge to zero followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the coulomb counter and resolves this.

Device won't power on after sitting in storage

Li-ion cells stored at low charge levels self-discharge over time. If the cell drops below roughly 2.5V, the BMS triggers a lockout to prevent a damaged charge cycle. The phone shows nothing — no boot screen, no charging animation. Connect to a wall charger, not a PC USB port, and leave it for 20–30 minutes before pressing power. The charge IC on a wall adapter can push enough trickle current to lift the cell above the BMS re-enable threshold, typically around 2.8V.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my ZOPO ZP980 show the wrong battery percentage after I put in a new cell?

The fuel gauge IC inside the phone was calibrated to the discharge curve of the original cell. When you install a new cell, the IC carries over the old curve — so its percentage estimate drifts against what the new cell is actually doing. Run one complete discharge down to auto-shutdown followed by a full uninterrupted charge to 100%. That one cycle resets the coulomb counter and the percentage will track accurately after that.

Fast charging stopped working the first time I charged the replacement battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is broken. On the first charge cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC sometimes won't accept the USB fast-charge handshake because the BMS on the new cell hasn't completed its first initialisation cycle. Charge once at standard speed using a basic 5V adapter. After that first full cycle, plug back into your fast charger and the protocol handshake should complete normally.

My ZOPO ZP980 feels warm near the battery during the first few charges — is the cell faulty?

A new high-impedance cell generates slightly more heat than a broken-in one because the charge IC is pushing current into a cell with higher internal resistance than it expects. This is normal for the first two or three cycles and settles as the cell breaks in. If the phone becomes hot to the touch — not just warm — remove it from charge and let it cool before continuing. Warmth that disappears by the third cycle is not a fault.
