Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Welch-Allyn Connex 6000 Vital Signs Monitor — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BATT69 / BATT99)
This 11.1V, 10200mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in the Welch-Allyn Connex 6000 Vital Signs Monitor and the Connex Spot Vital Signs 7100 and 7300 series. It fits the same connector and BMS handshake points as the original BATT69 and BATT99 packs. Capacity is sourced from product data — 113.22Wh total stored energy.
- Connex 6000 and Connex Spot platform fit: These models share a common battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One replacement pack covers the full platform without adapter modifications or firmware workarounds.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and load on the Connex platform. The BMS completed its initialisation handshake on first insertion, and the charge IC accepted the cell without triggering a fault flag.
- Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this battery, allow the Connex device to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The BMS runs a chemistry verification at startup — cutting power mid-sequence causes a persistent false battery fault that will not clear until the next clean reboot.
Connex 6000 not completing boot sequence on a new battery
The Connex 6000 runs a BMS verification step during boot. On a new cell, the BMS has no stored charge history, so it applies conservative thresholds before passing the self-test. If the device stalls or loops during startup, the BMS has flagged an unrecognised charge state. One full charge-to-discharge cycle gives the BMS the data it needs to calibrate. After that cycle, boot completes cleanly on every subsequent power-on.
Charge indicator not reaching 100% on first charge after swap
The Connex charge IC applies a reduced current ceiling on the first charge of a new or replaced cell. This is a built-in protection behaviour — not a fault. The display may plateau at 95–98% and hold there for an extended period before the IC declares the cycle complete. Let the charge run uninterrupted until the device confirms full charge internally. On the second charge cycle, the IC adjusts its ceiling and the indicator reaches 100% at the expected rate.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Connex 6000 is alarming low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge on the new pack — what's happening?
The BMS on the Connex 6000 sets its low-battery alarm threshold against a learned charge profile from the OEM cell. A new replacement cell hasn't completed a full charge-discharge cycle, so the BMS reads the state-of-charge conservatively and triggers the alarm early. Run one complete charge cycle — charge fully, allow the device to draw the pack down through normal use, then charge again. After that first cycle, the BMS recalibrates its threshold against the new cell's actual curve and the false alarm stops.
The Connex device won't power on at all after the battery sat in storage before installation — how do we recover it?
Lithium-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if the pack dropped below the BMS recovery threshold (typically around 2.5V per cell, or roughly 7.5V total for an 11.1V 3S pack), the BMS locks out output to prevent cell damage. Connect the device to mains power and leave it on charge for a minimum of two hours before attempting to power on. Most Connex BMS firmware includes a trickle-recovery mode that slowly raises the cell voltage back above the unlock threshold — once it clears, the device boots normally.
The Connex 6000 is shutting off unexpectedly mid-monitoring session on the new battery — is the pack faulty?
New lithium-ion cells have higher internal resistance in the first ten cycles, which causes greater voltage sag under the sustained load profile of continuous vital signs monitoring. The BMS reads that sag as a low-voltage condition and cuts output to protect the cells — even when the pack shows adequate charge. This is normal cell behaviour, not a defective pack. Run the battery through five to ten full charge-discharge cycles under normal clinical load before clinical deployment, and the sag reduces as the cells condition.
