Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Asahi Electric TSA-014 / TSC-014 / TSB-014 / THB-014 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for Asahi Electric cordless phone handsets. It fits the TSA-014, TSC-014, TSB-014, and THB-014 models. The pack slots directly into the handset battery compartment and connects to the same charging circuit as the original.

  • TSA-014 / TSC-014 / TSB-014 / THB-014 compatibility: All four models share the same 3.6V three-cell NiMH configuration, identical connector orientation, and the same base station charging voltage rail — which is why one pack serves the entire range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the base station charger and confirmed the BMS accepted a full charge without triggering a fault light. Voltage held within spec across three consecutive discharge cycles.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour slow charge before first use. NiMH cells shipped from storage are partially discharged — a short top-up charge will not bring them to rated capacity. Skip this step and the first few talk sessions will feel shorter than expected.

Base station showing no charge or error light after fitting a new NiMH pack

NiMH batteries lose voltage during storage. If the resting voltage drops low enough, some base stations refuse to begin a charge cycle — the charging circuit sees an out-of-range voltage and flags it as a fault. This is not a dead battery or a faulty base. Briefly remove the battery, wait 10 seconds, reinsert it firmly, and reseat the handset in the base. This resets the charge detection circuit and usually clears the error on the first retry.

Handset loses DECT pairing after battery swap

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, including the memory that stores the base station pairing code. When you refit the battery, the handset may power on but fail to register with the base. This is normal — it is a power-loss pairing reset, not a hardware fault. Consult your handset manual for the re-registration step; on most Asahi Electric DECT models it involves holding the handset's paging button on the base for three seconds while the handset is powered on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Talk time feels much shorter than the original battery — is the new pack faulty?

It is not faulty. NiMH cells need three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity — 700mAh is the figure after conditioning, not straight out of the box. Each full cycle through the base station charger brings the cells closer to their rated output. Run three complete cycles with a full 16-hour charge each time and talk time will increase noticeably.

The handset range dropped noticeably after fitting the replacement — calls break up further from the base than before.

DECT handsets draw a surge of current when the RF transmitter fires. If the NiMH pack is not yet fully conditioned, voltage sags under that load and the transmitter cannot maintain full output power. The result is shorter range and broken audio at distances the original battery handled without issue. Complete the conditioning cycles — three to five full charges — and the voltage sag under RF load will reduce. Range should return to normal once the cells are holding a full charge.

The battery drains completely overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base — why?

Check that the handset is fully seated in the base cradle. If the charging contacts are not making solid contact, the handset draws standby power from the battery rather than from the base supply. Lift the handset out, inspect the gold charging contacts on both the handset and base for dust or oxidation, wipe them with a dry cloth, and reseat the handset until it clicks into position. The base station charge indicator light should illuminate within 30 seconds of correct seating.
