Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

MUJI SFX-MJ1 / TEL-MJ1 / TEL-SMJ1 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for MUJI cordless phone handsets across the SFX-MJ1, TEL-MJ1, and TEL-SMJ1 models. It replaces a degraded or failed original battery to restore full wireless operation. The cell matches the original's physical footprint at 43 × 31 × 8mm.
- SFX-MJ1, TEL-MJ1, and TEL-SMJ1 compatibility: These three MUJI handsets share the same 3.6V three-cell Ni-MH configuration, connector placement, and battery bay dimensions — the same pack covers all three without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a DECT handset platform. The BMS accepted charge at the base station without error, and cell voltage held stable across the RF transmit load during active calls.
- First-charge protocol for Ni-MH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it on charge for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells in cordless phones reach rated capacity only after a slow initial charge — pulling the handset early will cut available talk time significantly for the first several cycles.
Base station showing no charge or error light after battery swap
A fresh Ni-MH pack from storage can sit at a resting voltage low enough that the base station's charge controller does not recognise it as a valid battery. Some MUJI base units check cell voltage before enabling the charge circuit. If the handset shows no charge indicator or the base flashes an error, remove the handset, hold the power button for five seconds to drain residual charge, then reseat it in the base. The charge controller re-polls on reconnection and typically accepts the pack once it registers a voltage response above its detection threshold.
Handset not re-pairing with base after battery replacement
DECT phones store pairing data in volatile memory on the handset. Removing the old battery completely clears that memory, so the handset comes back up as an unregistered unit. The fix is a manual re-registration — press and hold the registration button on the base unit until it enters pairing mode, then initiate registration from the handset menu. Refer to the SFX-MJ1 or TEL-MJ1 manual for the exact key sequence, as the menu path differs slightly between models.

Frequently Asked Questions
Talk time is much shorter than expected — is the new battery faulty?
Almost certainly not. Ni-MH cells in cordless phones need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. On the first cycle, you may get noticeably less talk time than the 700mAh spec suggests. Run the handset until the low battery warning sounds, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat — talk time increases with each cycle until the cells are fully conditioned.
The handset drains to flat overnight even while sitting in the base — what's wrong?
This points to a seating issue, not the battery itself. If the handset is not sitting flush in the base cradle, the charging contacts do not make a clean connection and the handset runs entirely on battery in standby. Check that the handset clicks firmly into the base, clean the gold contacts on both the handset and cradle with a dry cloth, and confirm the charge indicator light activates within a few seconds of reseating.
Range dropped noticeably after swapping the battery — calls break up near the edge of the house now.
Reduced range after a battery swap usually means the new Ni-MH pack has not yet been through conditioning cycles and is sagging under the RF transmit load. The DECT transmitter draws a sharp current spike each time it broadcasts, and an unconditioned cell drops voltage under that load, causing the radio to reduce output power or cut out briefly. Put the handset through three full charge-discharge cycles — after conditioning, the internal resistance drops and the pack can sustain the transmit current without the voltage sag.
