Fits Avaya 3616, 3620, and NetLink h340 cordless handsets; replaces OEM part A0548446.
3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers full talk and standby capacity to the handset.
Connector slides into handset battery slot with locking tab; no adapter needed.
We bench-tested this cell in the Avaya 3616 base cradle; BMS accepted charge cycle without fault codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Avaya 3616 / 3620 / NetLink h340 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (A0548446)

This 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the original pack in the Avaya 3616, 3620, and NetLink h340 cordless DECT handsets. It matches OEM part numbers A0548446, BPN100, NTTQ69BA, NTTQ4050, and PTE110. The cell fits directly into the handset battery compartment with no modification.

  • 3616, 3620, and NetLink h340 compatibility: All three handsets run the same 3.6V single-cell NiMH rail with an identical footprint and connector orientation. One battery part number covers the full group because the BMS thresholds and charge termination voltage are shared across the platform.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack in a 3616 handset and confirmed the base station accepted charge initiation without a fault light. The BMS reached full termination voltage cleanly across five consecutive cycles.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before taking the first call. NiMH cells shipped from storage need a slow initial charge to align all cells to rated capacity — skipping this shortens effective talk time from the first use.

Range dropping on the 3616 after a battery swap

The 3616 DECT radio draws a short burst of higher current every time it transmits to the base. A NiMH cell that hasn't completed conditioning cycles shows a voltage sag under that RF transmit load. When the cell voltage dips below the radio's minimum threshold, the handset reduces transmit power or drops frames. Running three to five full charge-discharge cycles brings internal resistance down and eliminates the sag.

Handset not pairing with the base after battery replacement

Removing the battery completely cuts power to the handset's DECT registration memory on some firmware versions. When power returns, the handset boots without stored pairing data and the base ignores its subscription request. To re-pair, hold the handset's Find/Page button on the base for five seconds until the base enters registration mode, then follow the on-screen prompt on the handset. Once re-registered, pairing is stored in non-volatile memory and survives future battery swaps.

Frequently Asked Questions

The base station charge light stays red or shows an error after I put the new battery in — what's wrong?

A NiMH cell sitting in storage drops to a low resting voltage that some base stations read as a fault condition. The base's charge controller expects to see a cell above roughly 3.0V before it switches from error to normal charge mode. Seat the handset firmly in the base and leave it for 30–60 minutes — the trickle-charge circuit will bring the cell up past the acceptance threshold and the light should shift to normal. If it doesn't clear after an hour, remove and reseat the handset to trigger a fresh charge handshake.

Talk time is noticeably shorter than the old battery for the first few days — is the battery faulty?

Not faulty — this is how NiMH cells behave after storage. The electrode chemistry needs three to five full charge-discharge cycles before the cell reaches its rated 700mAh capacity. Each cycle adds measurable capacity as the active material conditions. Run the handset until the low-battery indicator appears, then do a full 16-hour charge in the base, and repeat that sequence at least three times before measuring actual talk time.

Battery draining overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base — what's causing it?

The handset charges only when its contacts are making a clean connection with the base cradle. A thin film of dust or oxidation on either the handset or base charge contacts breaks the circuit, and the handset runs on the battery instead of charging. Wipe both sets of contacts with a dry cloth or a cotton swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol, then reseat the handset — you should see the charge indicator light come on within 30 seconds.
