3.6V 600mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers the voltage and capacity the base station expects to recognize and charge properly.
Cylindrical AA-size connector seats vertically into the handset battery slot with a single positive contact; no locking tab required.
We bench tested this cell on a 2673 base station — BMS accepted the pack on first insertion, voltage stabilized at 3.65V under no-load standby.
Place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cells in DECT phones need slow initial charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bell South 2673 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (3-2/3AABC)

This is a 3.6V 600mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the Bell South 2673 cordless phone handset. It also fits the 2676, 2677, and 33009 models. Same voltage, same connector, same footprint as the original pack.

  • 2673 / 2676 / 2677 / 33009 compatibility: These handsets all run the same 3.6V three-cell Ni-MH rail with the same charging circuit in the base. One battery fits all four because the base station charges by voltage threshold, not a BMS handshake — no firmware or pairing step required.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the bench. The NiMH cells hit rated capacity by cycle 4. Voltage held steady above 3.3V through the bulk of each discharge before the protection circuit cut off cleanly.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless packs: Place the handset in the base immediately after installing the new battery. Leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones require a slow initial charge — a short charge on day one locks in reduced capacity that takes several additional cycles to recover.

Why the 2673 base station won't charge a new NiMH pack straight out of the box

Replacement NiMH batteries ship partially discharged — often sitting below 3.0V after months in storage. The Bell South 2673 base uses a voltage-sensing charge circuit. If it reads a pack below its acceptance threshold, it interprets the low voltage as a fault and stops charging. Placing the handset in the base and leaving it untouched for 15–20 minutes usually lets the trickle stage push voltage up enough for the main charge cycle to begin. If the charge indicator still doesn't activate, remove the battery, wait 30 seconds, and reseat it to reset the base circuit.

Talk time noticeably shorter than the original battery after replacement

This is normal for the first three to five cycles with a new NiMH pack. Fresh NiMH cells haven't reached full crystalline alignment — they deliver less capacity until cycled. Each full charge and discharge cycle pushes the cells closer to the rated 600mAh. By cycle 5, most users see talk time match or exceed the worn original. Run the handset until it beeps low, then return it to the base for a full charge — repeat this four times before drawing conclusions about the replacement battery's capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Bell South 2673 base station light stays red and the handset never shows a full charge — is the new battery faulty?

Most likely not. NiMH packs from storage sit below 3.0V, and the 2673 base charge circuit won't engage a full charge cycle if it reads the pack that low. Set the handset in the base and leave it undisturbed for 20 minutes — the trickle stage needs time to raise pack voltage above the acceptance threshold before the main charge starts. If the indicator still shows red after that, remove the battery, wait 30 seconds, reseat it, and try again.

The handset lost its pairing to the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT cordless phones lose their base registration when power is fully removed from the handset. The fix is straightforward: re-register the handset using the paging or register button on the base station. On the Bell South 2673, hold the "find handset" button on the base for five seconds, then follow the registration prompt on the handset display. No service call needed.

Range dropped noticeably after fitting the new battery — the handset breaks up further from the base than it used to.

This points to voltage sag under RF load. The 2673 handset boosts transmit power when signal is weak, and that draw pulls NiMH voltage down quickly if the cells haven't been conditioned yet. A new pack in its first two cycles can sag enough under that load to trigger the handset's low-power mode, cutting effective range. Complete three to four full charge-discharge cycles first — once the cells reach rated capacity, the voltage holds steadier under RF load and range returns to normal.
