Fits GE 700 cordless phone handsets; replaces OEM battery 3.6V Ni-MH pack.
3.6V, 600mAh rated capacity delivers full talk time on a fresh charge cycle.
Connector slides straight into handset battery compartment with no locking tab required.
We bench-tested this Ni-MH pack on a GE 700 base — voltage held steady through standby draw.
After installation, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GE 700 Cordless Phone — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the GE 700 cordless phone handset. It replaces the original pack when the handset no longer holds a charge or loses power mid-call. Voltage and chemistry match the base station charging circuit exactly.

  • GE 700 handset fit: The GE 700 base station delivers a fixed trickle charge tuned for a 3.6V Ni-MH cell. Swapping to a different voltage or chemistry causes the charging circuit to over- or under-charge — this battery matches that spec directly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the GE 700 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without error, and the handset powered on and registered to the base on the first attempt.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before use. NiMH cells shipped in storage state need a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this cuts talk time short for the first several cycles.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

NiMH cells leave storage partially discharged, and the first charge cycle rarely brings them to full rated capacity. The GE 700 base delivers a slow trickle charge — it takes 3 to 5 full cycles before the cell reaches 600mAh. Each cycle should be a full charge followed by normal use until the handset shows low battery, then a return to the base for a complete recharge.

Base station charge light not activating with new battery installed

If the GE 700 base shows no charge indicator after a battery swap, the cell voltage has likely dropped below the base's acceptance threshold during storage — typically below 3.0V. The base detects this as a fault and won't initiate the charge cycle. Remove the battery, let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes, then reseat it firmly in the handset and return it to the base. If the light still does not activate, check that the handset contacts are clean and making full contact with the base cradle pins.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GE 700 handset won't pair with the base after I replaced the battery — what happened?

Removing power from a DECT handset clears the stored pairing in some GE 700 models. The handset loses its link to the base when the battery is fully disconnected. To re-pair, press and hold the page or find button on the base unit while the handset is powered on within range. The handset should register within 30 seconds and show a signal bar.

The GE 700 handset sits in the base all night but the battery is flat by morning — is the battery faulty?

A battery draining overnight usually points to the handset not making proper contact with the base cradle, not a faulty cell. If the charging pins on the handset or the contacts on the base are dirty or slightly bent, the trickle charge never completes. Clean both contact points with a dry cloth, reseat the handset firmly, and check that the charge indicator light activates within a few seconds of docking.

The handset loses range and drops calls near the edge of the house — could the new battery be causing this?

Yes. The GE 700 RF transmitter draws a short burst of current each time it sends a signal. If the NiMH cell is not yet fully conditioned, voltage sags under that load and the transmit power drops — reducing effective range. Run 3 to 5 full charge-discharge cycles to bring the cell to rated capacity. After conditioning, voltage under RF load should stabilise above 3.3V and range will return to normal.
