Logicom base stations use a threshold voltage check before starting the charge cycle. A NiMH cell that has sat in storage drops below that threshold — typically under 3.0V — and the base reads it as a fault rather than a flat battery. Place the handset in the base anyway and leave it for 30 to 60 minutes. The trickle current from the base is usually enough to bring the cell voltage up past the acceptance threshold, at which point the charge indicator switches to normal. If the error light stays on after an hour, check that the handset contacts are clean and fully seated.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

NiMH cells do not deliver full rated capacity on the first charge cycle — this is normal chemistry, not a defective battery. Capacity builds over the first three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles as the cell plates form properly. Run the handset down until the low-battery warning sounds, then return it to the base for a full charge each time. By cycle five, talk time should be at or close to the 300mAh rated level.
