Fits the Plantronics CT460 cordless headset; replaces OEM Plantronics CT460 battery.
3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH chemistry powers the wireless headset within base station range.
Battery slides into the handset compartment with two-point contact pins; no locking tab required.
We bench tested this cell across five charge cycles; BMS accepted voltage signature on cycle two.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Plantronics CT460 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH battery for the Plantronics CT460 cordless phone headset. It replaces the original pack when the headset no longer holds a charge or fails to power on. Voltage and cell chemistry match the factory specification.

  • CT460 headset compatibility: The CT460 uses a compact Ni-MH cell pack running a 3.6V rail. The base station's charging circuit is tuned to Ni-MH charge curves — swapping to a different chemistry would break the charge cycle. This replacement keeps that circuit working as the manufacturer intended.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the CT460 platform. The base station accepted the battery without error, and voltage held stable across the transmit load during testing.
  • First-charge protocol for Ni-MH cordless batteries: After installing, seat the headset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells shipped in a partially discharged state need this slow initial charge to reach rated capacity. Skipping it results in shorter talk time that may not recover.

Talk time shorter than original battery after replacement

Ni-MH cells do not deliver full rated capacity straight out of the box. Storage and shipping leave them in a low-charge state, and the first few cycles are spent conditioning the cells. Expect three to five full charge-discharge cycles before talk time reaches its rated level. If talk time is still short after five cycles, confirm the headset is fully seated in the base during each charge — poor contact is the most common cause of incomplete charging on the CT460.

Base station showing no charge or error light after battery swap

The CT460 base station checks for a minimum voltage before starting the charge cycle. A new Ni-MH pack from storage can sit below that acceptance threshold, causing the base to show an error or no charging indicator at all. Remove the headset, wait 10 seconds, and reseat it firmly — this resets the charge detection circuit. If the error persists, check that the battery contacts on the headset are clean and making full contact with the base cradle pins.

Frequently Asked Questions

My CT460 headset pairs fine but drains completely overnight even sitting in the base — is the battery faulty?

This is a standby draw issue, not a battery fault. If the headset is not fully seated in the base cradle, the charging pins lose contact and the headset runs on battery power in standby mode all night. Press the headset firmly into the base until it clicks into position and check that the charging indicator light comes on. If seating is confirmed and drain continues, clean the cradle pins with a dry cloth — oxidised contacts interrupt the charge current even when the headset looks seated.

The CT460 headset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Some DECT phones drop their pairing data when power is fully removed, which happens during a battery swap. The CT460 requires a re-registration procedure: press and hold the pairing button on the base station until the indicator flashes, then press the pairing button on the headset within 30 seconds. Once the lights stop flashing and go solid, the headset is registered. Refer to the CT460 quick-start guide for the exact button locations if needed.

The headset cuts out at range after a battery swap but worked fine with the old battery — what's happening?

Ni-MH voltage sags under RF transmit load when the cells are not yet conditioned. The CT460's transmitter draws a short burst of current each time it sends a signal, and a partially conditioned pack drops voltage enough to cause audio dropouts or disconnection at the edge of range. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles to bring the cells to rated capacity. After conditioning, test range again from the same distance — if dropout persists, check that the battery voltage reads at or above 3.6V under load.
