Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Olympia C200 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 1200mAh Ni-MH battery for the Olympia C200 cordless telephone handset. It fits the wireless handset unit directly, restoring power to the handset when the original cell has degraded or lost capacity. No OEM part number is published for this battery — fit is confirmed by model and physical dimensions.

  • C200 handset fit: The C200 handset runs a 3.6V NiMH cell in a compact three-cell flat pack. The replacement matches that voltage rail and physical footprint — 56.32 x 42.96 x 20.38mm — so it seats correctly in the battery bay without forcing the cover.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on NiMH test equipment. The cell accepted a full charge without voltage anomalies and held resting voltage within spec between cycles. BMS behaviour was stable across all test passes.
  • First charge on NiMH cordless handsets: Place the handset in the base immediately after fitting and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells shipped from storage are partially discharged — a slow first charge lets each cell in the pack reach rated capacity evenly. Skipping this step is the main reason users report short talk time on new batteries.

Range dropping after fitting a new NiMH pack in the C200

DECT handsets draw a short burst of higher current each time they transmit to the base station. A NiMH cell that has not been fully conditioned has higher internal resistance than a broken-in cell. That resistance causes a voltage sag under the RF transmit load, and the handset pulls back transmit power to compensate. After three to five full charge and discharge cycles, internal resistance drops and the range returns to normal.

Base station showing no charge or error light after battery swap

NiMH cells lose voltage during storage, and some base stations use a minimum voltage threshold to detect a valid battery before starting the charge circuit. If the replacement cell has been sitting in a warehouse, its resting voltage may sit below that threshold. Place the handset in the base and wait — most C200 base units will begin a trickle charge after a few minutes once the circuit detects any positive voltage. If the charge indicator still does not appear after 30 minutes, remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and reseat it to trigger a fresh detection cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My C200 handset has much shorter talk time than expected even after charging overnight — is the new battery faulty?

It is not faulty. NiMH cells need three to five full charge and discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity — this is normal chemistry behaviour, not a defect. Each cycle burns off surface passivation and balances the cells in the pack. Run the handset down until it beeps low, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat that cycle four or five times. Talk time should increase noticeably with each pass.

The handset lost its pairing with the base station when I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT phones store pairing data in volatile memory that clears when power drops. The fix is a manual re-registration: place the handset in the base, press and hold the registration button on the base unit until the handset displays a search or pairing prompt, then follow the on-screen steps. Check the C200 manual for the exact button location — on most Olympia bases it is a recessed button on the rear panel.

The battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what is causing that?

This points to the handset not making proper contact with the base charging pins rather than a battery fault. Check that the handset sits flush and clicks down into the cradle — if it is even slightly tilted, the charge contacts may not connect. Clean the metal charging pins on both the handset and the base with a dry cloth to remove any oxidation. After reseating correctly, the charge indicator light should come on within one minute of placing the handset in the base.
