Fits Falard RC 012, RC12, RC12R, RC12RI crane remote controls; replaces OEM part number BL7.2.
7.4V lithium-ion at 3400mAh delivers 25.16Wh — enough voltage stability for solenoid activation and sustained button response on industrial hoist operations.
Connector seats into the RC 012 battery bay with a single locking tab; orientation is keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
We bench-tested this cell in an RC12R platform; BMS accepted the handshake on first insertion and held voltage under full-load solenoid pulls without dropout.
For crane remotes sitting idle between jobs, charge monthly even when unused — cells that fall below 2.5V per cell trigger BMS lockout and may not wake without 30 minutes on a charger first.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Falard RC 012 / RC12 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL7.2)

This is a 7.4V, 3400mAh Li-ion replacement for the Falard BL7.2 battery pack. It fits the RC 012, RC12, RC12R, and RC12RI crane remote controls. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds enough charge to keep the remote responsive during a lift cycle.

  • RC 012 / RC12 family compatibility: The RC12, RC12R, and RC12RI all run the same 7.4V two-cell rail and share the BL7.2 connector footprint and BMS handshake protocol. One battery covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through repeated solenoid activation sequences on the RC12 platform. The BMS held stable under inrush current spikes during relay engagement and did not trip into protective cutoff at any point during the test sequence.
  • First-use charge protocol for infrequently used remotes: Falard crane remotes often sit idle between jobs. Before first use — and at least once a month during idle storage — charge this battery fully. Li-ion cells discharged below 2.5V per cell will enter BMS lockout, and a standard charger may not recover them.

Solenoid activation causing power dropout on the RC12

When a crane remote triggers a solenoid or relay, the inrush current draw spikes sharply for a few milliseconds. A degraded or low-capacity cell can't supply that surge without the voltage rail collapsing momentarily. The BMS reads that voltage sag as an unsafe condition and trips into cutoff — cutting power mid-command. This BL7.2 cell at 3400mAh provides enough current headroom to absorb those spikes without tripping. If dropouts continue with a fresh battery, verify the remote's internal relay contacts are not drawing above spec.

Remote showing "low battery" immediately after installing a new cell

Fresh Li-ion cells ship at storage voltage — typically around 3.7V to 3.8V per cell, not the 4.2V full-charge ceiling. The RC12 firmware reads voltage to determine charge state, so a cell sitting at storage voltage will report low immediately. This is not a fault with the battery. Connect the battery to its charger and bring it to full charge before first use. Once the cell reaches 4.2V per cell (8.4V total across the pack), the remote's charge indicator should clear.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Falard RC12 crane remote won't power on at all after sitting unused for several months — is the battery dead?

Most likely the battery has dropped below 2.5V per cell and the BMS has entered deep-discharge lockout. The remote appears completely dead because the BMS blocks output to protect the cells. Connect the battery to the charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes — some chargers apply a trickle recovery current that can bring a locked-out pack back above the BMS re-initialisation threshold. If the pack recovers, bring it to a full 8.4V before returning the remote to service.

The RC12 remote cuts out or resets mid-lift when I activate a hoist function — new battery installed yesterday, so what's causing it?

This is an inrush current issue, not a faulty battery. When the remote fires a solenoid or relay command, the current spike can momentarily drag the cell voltage below the BMS trip threshold — especially if the new battery was installed without first charging it to full capacity. Charge the battery fully before use so the cell voltage starts at 8.4V and has maximum headroom to absorb those transient spikes without the BMS cutting output.

E-stop response on my RC12RI feels slower than it should — could the battery be causing that?

E-stop response time on the RC12RI is voltage-dependent — a partially discharged cell running below roughly 7.0V means the radio transmitter is operating under reduced power, which can add latency to the signal. Before using the remote in any safety-critical lift, confirm the battery is at full charge. Charge to 8.4V and retest the E-stop response before putting the crane back into service.
