Fits Garmin iQue 3200, iQue 3600, and iQue 3600a handheld GPS navigators using OEM part number 1A2W423C2 or A2X128A2.
3.7V lithium-ion cell at 1600mAh delivers 5.92Wh total energy — sufficient for full-day navigation on the iQue platform without midday top-up.
Connector seats flush into the battery slot with a positive-tab alignment; device locking mechanism holds the cell without spring pressure on the terminals.
We bench-tested this cell on iQue 3200 hardware; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault cycles, and voltage regulation stayed stable across active navigation load steps.
After installing this cell, power the GPS on outdoors and allow a cold-start satellite acquisition before navigating — first fix takes 5–10 minutes after power interruption, versus under one minute for warm starts afterward.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin iQue 3200 / 3600 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1A2W423C2)

This 3.7V 1600mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Garmin iQue 3200, iQue 3600, and iQue 3600a handheld GPS navigators. These devices combine GPS navigation with PDA functions, drawing on a single Li-ion cell that degrades with daily charge cycles. Capacity is 5.92Wh, matching the original specification.

  • iQue 3200, 3600, and 3600a compatibility: All three models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers the full series without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and load on the iQue platform. The BMS accepted full charge without error flags and held voltage within spec under GPS receiver and display load simultaneously.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after fitting: After any full power removal, the iQue performs a cold start. Power the device on outdoors and leave it stationary — first satellite fix can take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop to under a minute once almanac data is cached.

GPS accuracy reducing at low battery on the iQue series

When cell voltage drops below roughly 3.5V, the iQue reduces power to the GPS receiver to protect the PDA functions. This lowers receiver sensitivity and can cause position drift or slower re-acquisition of satellites. A degraded original battery reaches this threshold far earlier in a session than a fresh cell. Fitting a new cell at full rated capacity keeps the receiver running at full sensitivity throughout normal use.

iQue shutting off without low-battery warning

The battery indicator on the iQue reads state of charge from a voltage curve calibrated to the original cell. After extended use, that curve drifts — the device reads 20% remaining but the actual cell voltage has already hit the BMS cutoff threshold. The result is an abrupt shutdown with no warning icon displayed. Fitting a replacement cell resets the voltage curve; run two full charge-discharge cycles to let the indicator re-calibrate against the new cell's actual discharge profile. After cycling, the warning should appear at approximately 3.6V before cutoff.

Frequently Asked Questions

My iQue 3200 lost all my saved routes and POIs after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The iQue stores routes and some POI data in battery-backed RAM. When the cell is fully removed, that RAM loses power and clears. Maps stored on an SD card remain intact, but user-created routes saved to internal memory are lost on full power removal. Before swapping, export any critical routes to your PC using Garmin's software so you can reload them after fitting the new cell.

Satellite lock is taking 8 minutes after my battery replacement — was something damaged?

Nothing is damaged. Removing the battery clears the almanac and ephemeris data the GPS receiver uses for fast fixes. Without that cached data, the iQue runs a full cold start and has to download current satellite positions from scratch — this takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with clear sky view. Stand outside away from buildings, leave the device stationary, and the receiver will build a new almanac. Every fix after that first one will be under a minute.

My iQue drains noticeably faster when I'm actively navigating versus just carrying it in my bag — what's pulling the extra power?

Active navigation runs two major loads at once — the GPS receiver polling satellites continuously and the display at whatever brightness you've set. In standby, the receiver duty-cycles or sleeps entirely. Turning display brightness down one or two steps during navigation reduces draw noticeably, since the backlight is the single largest variable load on this platform. If drain still seems excessive after fitting a new cell, check that the screen timeout is not set to "never" in the device settings.
