Fits Navigon Transonic 5000, PNA-5000, and Transonic PNA-5000 GPS navigators replacing OEM part E4MT062201B12.
3.7V lithium-ion cell with 2200mAh capacity delivers 8.14Wh — sufficient for full-day navigation on this handheld unit.
Connector seats flush into the battery slot with no locking tab; orientation is keyed and accepts only one way.
We bench-tested this cell in a Transonic 5000 unit and logged steady voltage output under active GPS and display load with clean BMS handshake on insertion.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — cold start after power interruption takes 5–10 minutes for first fix.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Navigon Transonic 5000 / PNA-5000 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (E4MT062201B12)

This 3.7V, 2200mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Navigon Transonic 5000 and PNA-5000 portable GPS navigators. It fits the same battery bay and connector as the factory unit. Capacity is rated at 8.14Wh, matching the original specification.

  • Transonic 5000 and PNA-5000 fitment: Both models run the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with identical connector pinout and BMS handshake requirements. One battery covers all variants in this lineup without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Transonic 5000 platform. The onboard BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the charge circuit terminated correctly at full capacity.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this battery, power the unit on outdoors in open sky before driving. A full power interruption clears the GPS receiver's ephemeris cache, so the first satellite fix takes 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop back under a minute once the almanac rebuilds.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the Transonic 5000

When cell voltage drops toward 3.4V, the Transonic 5000 throttles receiver sensitivity to reduce current draw. This shows up as position jumps or loss of lock on roads with tree cover or tall buildings. The display may still show a signal bar while accuracy degrades silently. Keeping the battery above 3.6V under load maintains full receiver performance.

Transonic 5000 shutting off without any low-battery warning

This happens when the battery indicator is uncalibrated against a new cell. The device's fuel gauge learned the old battery's discharge curve, so it reads the voltage incorrectly and shows adequate charge until the BMS cutoff trips abruptly. Run two full charge-discharge cycles after fitting the new cell. After the second cycle, the gauge recalibrates and the low-battery warning reappears at the correct threshold around 3.5V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Navigon Transonic 5000 lost all my saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The Transonic 5000 stores some route and POI data in battery-backed RAM, which loses power the moment the old cell is removed. Any unsaved routes in active memory will be gone. Saved favourites stored to internal flash are usually retained, but in-progress routes are not. Export any routes you need to keep via the PC software before pulling the battery.

The Transonic 5000 is taking 8 minutes to find satellites after the battery swap — what's wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery clears the GPS receiver's ephemeris and almanac data, which forces a cold start. Cold starts take 5–10 minutes outdoors in open sky while the receiver downloads fresh satellite timing data. Once that data is cached, warm starts drop back under a minute. Stay stationary outdoors for the first fix and the unit will lock on without issue.

My Transonic 5000 battery drains noticeably faster when I'm actively navigating compared to when it's just sitting on the dash — why?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver, the route processor, and the display simultaneously at full load. The display at maximum brightness is the largest single draw. Drop screen brightness to around 50% and enable the auto-dim setting if available — this reduces display current significantly without affecting map readability in a vehicle.
