Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Verathon BVI 6100 / BVI 6200 / BVI 6400 / BVI 6500 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (0400-0109)
This 3.7V, 750mAh Li-ion cell replaces OEM part 0400-0109 in the Verathon BVI 6100, 6200, 6400, and 6500 bladder volume imaging systems. These are handheld portable ultrasound devices used clinically for non-invasive post-void residual measurements. The cell matches OEM voltage, capacity, and connector footprint to the 38.70 × 35.20 × 6.00mm form factor.
- BVI 6100–6500 platform fit: All four BVI models share the same internal battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and 3.7V rail. The BMS on each device uses the same handshake protocol, so one cell covers the full BVI range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the BVI boot sequence and self-test routine. The BMS accepted the cell, completed voltage verification, and held charge without tripping a false low-battery fault across three consecutive charge cycles.
- Post-swap startup protocol: After installation, allow the BVI device to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The BMS runs a voltage verification pass at boot — cutting power mid-sequence logs a battery fault that persists until the next clean full reboot.
BVI device not completing boot sequence on a new cell
The BVI series runs a BMS learn cycle on first use — it checks cell voltage against an internal threshold before clearing the device for clinical operation. A new cell that shipped partially discharged may sit just below that threshold, causing the boot sequence to stall or loop. This is not a defective cell. Connect the device to its OEM charger and allow a full uninterrupted charge cycle before attempting to power on again. Once the cell reaches full charge, the BMS clears the threshold check and the device boots normally.
Charge indicator not reaching 100% on first charge
The BVI charge IC applies a conservative current limit on cells it has not yet profiled. On the first charge cycle, the indicator may plateau at 90–95% and stay there. This is the charge controller holding back until the cell passes its internal capacity verification — not a fault with the cell or the charger. Run one complete charge-to-discharge-to-charge cycle and the IC recalibrates. After that cycle, the indicator reaches 100% and the device passes self-test before clinical use.

Frequently Asked Questions
The BVI 6100 alarms low battery immediately after I put in a fully charged replacement — what's happening?
The BVI BMS compares resting cell voltage against a threshold calibrated for a profiled OEM cell. A new cell that has never been cycled in this device reads slightly below that threshold even at full charge, which trips the low-battery alarm. This is a BMS learn-cycle issue, not a faulty battery. Run one complete charge-discharge-charge cycle in the device — after that, the BMS accepts the cell's voltage profile and the alarm clears.
The BVI went into storage with a low battery and now it won't power on at all after I installed a new cell — is the device dead?
The device itself is likely fine. When the original cell deep-discharged in storage, the BVI's BMS may have locked the power circuit as a protection measure. The new cell needs to supply enough voltage to release that lock before the device will boot. Connect the device to the OEM charger with the new cell installed and leave it on charge for at least 30 minutes before pressing the power button — the charger wakes the BMS first, then the device powers on normally.
The BVI shuts off unexpectedly mid-scan after I replaced the battery — it's fully charged before each use.
New Li-ion cells have higher internal resistance in the first 8–10 cycles, which causes a momentary voltage sag under the load spike when the ultrasound transducer fires. The BVI's BMS interprets that sag as a low-cell event and cuts power as a safety measure. This is not a device fault or a bad cell. Cycle the battery through 8–10 full charge-discharge sequences before relying on it for uninterrupted clinical use — internal resistance drops after conditioning and the sag stays above the BMS cutoff threshold.
