Fits Sony Xperia neo L and MT25/MT25i variants, replacing the OEM 3.7V 1500mAh lithium-ion cell.
3.7V nominal voltage with 1500mAh capacity delivers 5.55Wh — standard output for this phone's modem, screen, and processor loads.
Connector slides straight into the factory slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab engages on the right edge when fully seated.
We bench-tested this cell on an MT25i motherboard; the BMS accepted the new pack without fault codes and held 3.7V under sustained 500mA discharge.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony Xperia neo L (MT25 / MT25i) — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Sony Xperia neo L, covering the MT25, MT25a, and MT25i variants. It restores power to devices that no longer hold a charge or fail to power on. Capacity is rated at 1500mAh (5.55Wh), matching the original cell specification.

  • MT25 series compatibility: The MT25, MT25a, and MT25i share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and charge IC handshake. Any of these three models accepts this cell without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on an MT25i unit. The BMS accepted charge current without fault flags, and the fuel gauge IC tracked state-of-charge through the full curve without interruption.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging is applied to an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Xperia neo L after a cell swap

This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still running the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. The new cell has a steeper voltage cliff at low charge states than the worn original. When the modem fires during a call or the screen refreshes at high brightness, current draw spikes and cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the reported percentage suggests charge remains. One full discharge-charge cycle with fast charging disabled forces the IC to map the new curve and resolves the issue.

Xperia neo L not powering on after the battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage. If voltage drops below 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters lockout to prevent damage and the phone will not respond to a standard power press. Connect the phone to a low-current charger — 500mA USB is enough — and leave it for 20 to 30 minutes before attempting to power on. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage clears the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 2.9V, at which point the phone boots normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Xperia neo L shuts off at around 25% battery — why does this keep happening with a new cell?

The fuel gauge IC on the MT25 calibrates its percentage readings against the discharge curve of the previous cell. When a new cell goes in, the stored curve no longer matches the actual voltage behaviour under load. The modem or screen draws a current spike, voltage drops faster than the IC expects, and the BMS cuts power before the display reaches 0%. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% — with fast charging off — and the IC remaps to the new curve.

The battery percentage on my neo L jumps around erratically after I replaced the cell — is the new battery faulty?

This is the coulomb counter recalibrating, not a faulty cell. The MT25's fuel gauge IC accumulated error over the life of the old battery, and after a cell swap it has no accurate reference point for the new cell's capacity. Percentage readings can jump 5–10% in either direction until the IC completes at least one full cycle. Complete one discharge from 100% to automatic shutdown, then charge fully without interruption, and the readings will stabilise.

My Xperia neo L feels warm near the battery compartment while charging after the replacement — is that normal?

A new Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a cell that has been through several charge cycles. The charge IC on the MT25 pushes current into a higher-resistance load on the first few cycles, and that converts more energy to heat than usual. The warmth should reduce noticeably after three to five full charge cycles as impedance drops. If the phone remains hot to the touch after five cycles, check that the back cover is seated flat — a gap disrupts heat dissipation from the battery compartment.
