Fits Dell Precision 15 3561 mobile workstation, replaces OEM part numbers 9JRV0 and 53XP7.
11.4V 8400mAh lithium-polymer cell restores full charge capacity for extended unplugged operation on this 15-inch professional workstation.
Connector orientation matches original slot; locking tab engages from the left side during seating into the battery compartment.
We bench-tested the cell against the Precision 15 3561 charging circuit; the BMS accepted the handshake and charged to 95.76Wh without fault codes.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears false health warnings that appear after every cell swap on Dell systems.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dell Precision 15 3561 — 11.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (9JRV0)

This 11.4V 8400mAh (95.76Wh) Li-Polymer battery is a direct cell replacement for the Dell Precision 15 3561 mobile workstation. It fits the 15-inch chassis used for engineering, CAD, and content creation workflows. OEM part numbers 9JRV0 and 53XP7 both cross-reference to this cell.

  • Precision 15 3561 platform fit: The 3561 shares its battery bay and connector pinout across its Intel Core and Xeon variants. All use the same three-cell Li-Polymer pack at 11.4V with an SMBus BMS handshake — this cell satisfies that handshake and is recognised on first boot.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a 3561 unit under sustained CPU and display load. The BMS held voltage above 10.8V throughout the discharge curve and triggered hibernate cutoff cleanly without false low-voltage trips.
  • BIOS learn cycle after install: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on Dell systems.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor after replacement

Dell's BIOS reads health data from EEPROM embedded in the battery pack. A new cell ships with factory EEPROM values that do not match the charge history the BIOS expects from a "known good" battery. This triggers a poor or unknown health flag even when the cell is physically fine. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate then a full uninterrupted charge — the BIOS battery learn cycle rewrites the health register against the new cell's actual data and the warning clears.

Laptop shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen

This is a voltage cliff failure, not a capacity problem. Under full CPU plus display load, the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC can recalibrate — the system reads 25% remaining but the cell is already below the minimum sustain threshold. The fuel gauge IC needs two to three full charge-discharge cycles to map its discharge curve against the new cell's actual chemistry. After those calibration cycles, the percentage readout tracks correctly and the early shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dell SupportAssist shows my new battery as "Unknown" — is the cell faulty?

The EEPROM data on a replacement cell does not match what SupportAssist expects from a cycle-aged original pack, so it flags the status as unknown. The cell itself is not faulty. Run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% to complete the BIOS battery learn cycle. After that cycle, SupportAssist re-reads the EEPROM and the status updates to a normal health state.

My Precision 15 3561 shows 95Wh in the spec sheet but Windows reports a different Wh rating after I installed this battery — why?

Windows pulls the Wh figure directly from the battery's EEPROM, which stores the rated design capacity. The EEPROM value on a replacement cell can differ slightly from the OEM figure due to how cell chemistry tolerances are logged at manufacture — this is a data reporting difference, not a capacity defect. The physical energy capacity of this cell is 95.76Wh as measured. Run two full charge-discharge cycles and Windows will recalculate the full charge capacity field against real charge data, bringing the reported figure in line.

Charging stops at 80% and will not go higher — is the new battery defective?

Dell BIOS includes a firmware-controlled charge limit that caps charging at 80% when "Primary AC Use" mode is active in Dell Power Manager. This is a BIOS setting, not a fault with the battery. Open Dell Power Manager, go to Battery Settings, and switch the charge mode from Primarily AC to Adaptive or Full Charge. The battery will then charge to 100% on the next charge cycle.
