Fits HP Pavilion x360 14 Convertible and ProBook 455 G7 laptops; replaces RF03XL, HSTNN-OB1Q, HSTNN-DB9R, and related OEM part numbers.
11.4V lithium-polymer cell delivers 3600mAh capacity for full-day operation on this convertible touchscreen notebook without external power.
Connector seats flush into the slot beneath the keyboard deck; locking tab clicks and holds without tools or adapters required.
We bench-tested the RF03XL pack against the OEM original — BMS accepted a cold-start charge cycle and held voltage steady under sustained CPU and display load.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernation cutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% to reset the BIOS battery learn cycle and clear inaccurate health warnings.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Pavilion x360 14 Convertible / ProBook 455 G7 — 11.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (RF03XL)

This is an 11.4V, 3600mAh (41.04Wh) Li-Polymer replacement battery for the HP Pavilion x360 14 Convertible and ProBook 455 G7. It fits using OEM part references RF03XL, L84354-005, L83685-271, L83685-AC1, HSTNN-OB1Q, HSTNN-DB9R, and RF03045XL. Cross-check your original part number against this list before ordering.

  • Pavilion x360 14 and ProBook 455 G7 fitment: Both models share this cell configuration — same voltage rail, same physical connector, and the same BMS handshake protocol. Swapping between these two platforms does not require firmware changes or hardware modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the x360 14 platform. The BMS accepted the new cell without error flags and the charge circuit moved through constant-current and constant-voltage phases as expected at 11.4V nominal.
  • Post-install calibration cycle: After fitting this battery, run the laptop down to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that typically appears immediately after a cell swap.

BIOS reporting poor battery health right after installation

HP's BIOS reads EEPROM data written to the old cell and compares it against the new one at first boot. Because the new cell has no charge history, the BIOS flags it as degraded or unknown — this is a data mismatch, not a fault. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by a complete uninterrupted charge gives the fuel gauge IC a baseline to work from. After two to three full cycles, the health reading stabilises and the warning clears. No BIOS update or driver change is needed.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on screen

This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't calibrated against the new cell yet — it loses track of the actual voltage curve under combined CPU and display load. The cell hits its low-voltage cutoff before the OS percentage reaches zero. Run two full discharge cycles to hibernate, charging to 100% each time without interruption. After calibration, the OS percentage and actual cell voltage will align and the premature shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

The HP battery health check tool shows the new battery as "unknown" or 0% capacity — is the cell dead?

It isn't. HP's battery health tool pulls data from the EEPROM on the old cell; a fresh replacement has no history written yet, so the tool returns unknown or zero. Run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% to write the baseline data. After one to two full cycles the tool reads the cell correctly.

The Pavilion x360 shows the wrong watt-hour rating in system information after the swap — it reads a different number than the 41.04Wh on the spec sheet.

The Wh figure in Windows Device Manager and HP's system info utility comes from EEPROM data on the cell, which can reflect a rated chemistry value rather than the calibrated actual capacity of a new cell. This is a reporting difference, not a capacity fault. After two full charge-discharge cycles, the fuel gauge IC recalculates against real measured data and the displayed Wh figure updates to reflect the actual cell.

The new battery stops charging at 80% and won't go higher regardless of how long it stays plugged in.

This is HP's BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a fault with the replacement cell. HP Pavilion and ProBook BIOS versions from 2019 onward include an adaptive charging mode that caps charge at 80% to reduce cell stress during long periods on AC power. Go to HP BIOS Setup (F10 at boot) or HP Support Assistant, find Battery Care Mode or Adaptive Battery Charging, and disable it. Charge will then proceed to 100%.
