Fits Mechrevo i5 8250U and i7 8550U notebook models, replaces internal battery pack CS-MSG420NB.
15.2V, 3250mAh lithium-polymer chemistry delivers 49.4Wh to sustain full CPU and display load cycles.
Connector orientation matches original slot; 286.60 x 92.40 x 5.75mm form factor seats flush without modification.
Bench testing showed BMS accepted charge current without fault codes; voltage curve tracked flat through 80% capacity on standard charger input.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernation cutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears inaccurate health warnings that appear after every cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Mechrevo i5 8250U / i7 8550U Series — 15.2V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery

This is a 15.2V, 3250mAh (49.4Wh) lithium-polymer replacement battery for Mechrevo laptops running Intel Core i5-8250U and i7-8550U processors. It fits both 8GB and 256GB storage configurations across the supported model range. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge or the system reports critical battery health.

  • i5 8250U and i7 8550U compatibility: Both the i5-8250U and i7-8550U platforms in this Mechrevo generation share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — that is why one cell covers the full model range across 8GB and 256GB variants.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the target platform. The BMS negotiated correctly, charge current accepted at the expected rate, and the protection circuit tripped at the correct low-voltage threshold without requiring manual intervention.
  • Post-install calibration: After fitting this cell, run the laptop down to hibernate cutoff on a normal workload, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after replacement

The BIOS does not automatically recognise a new cell as healthy. It reads residual EEPROM data from the old battery's charge history and flags the replacement as degraded before it has completed a single cycle. This is a firmware-side artefact, not a fault with the new cell. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% and the health indicator will update correctly.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on the fuel gauge

This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's voltage curve. When a fresh cell is installed, the IC misreads the remaining capacity and signals shutdown before the actual charge is exhausted. The cell voltage at that cutoff point is typically still above 3.2V per cell — well within safe range. Two to three full discharge-and-charge cycles recalibrate the IC against the new cell's actual voltage profile and the premature shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Mechrevo BIOS shows a wrong Wh rating after I installed the replacement — it doesn't match the 49.4Wh spec on the label. What's going on?

The Wh figure the BIOS displays is pulled from the old EEPROM data written during the previous cell's manufacture, not live-measured from the new cell. Until the learn cycle runs, the system reports whatever value was stored by the outgoing battery. Run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, charge uninterrupted to 100%, and the BIOS will rewrite the stored value to reflect the new cell's 49.4Wh rating.

My Mechrevo laptop's battery percentage is jumping around — showing 60%, then jumping to 85%, then dropping to 40% within minutes of unplugging. Is the new cell faulty?

The fuel gauge IC needs several calibration cycles to map the new cell's voltage curve accurately. After a cell swap, the IC is still referencing the old cell's discharge profile, which causes wild percentage swings during the first few charge cycles. This is not a cell fault. Run two to three complete discharge-to-hibernate and full-charge cycles and the gauge will stabilise as the IC recalibrates against the new chemistry.

Windows is reporting the new battery as "0% available (plugged in, charging)" and it has been on charge for over an hour with no change.

This usually means the BMS on the new cell entered a protection state during shipping — typically from a low-voltage trip caused by cell self-discharge in transit. Leave the laptop plugged in and powered off for 20–30 minutes to allow the charger to trickle the cell voltage back above the BMS recovery threshold, which on Li-Polymer cells is typically around 2.5V per cell. After that, power on normally and charge to 100%. If the 0% reading persists past that point, reseat the battery connector to confirm pin contact.
