Fits Ryobi BIW-1465 impact wrench and replaces OEM battery part numbers B-1430L, B-1425L, and B-1415L.
14.4V lithium-ion delivers 4000mAh capacity; sustains fastening torque on mid-size bolts without voltage sag on the first two cycles.
Bayonet connector seats perpendicular to tool body; locking tab clicks audibly when fully seated and oriented correctly.
We bench-tested the 14.4V BMS against motor inrush spikes on trigger pull — no false cutoff, contacts verified clean at insertion.
On first use with the BIW-1465, run fastening at half torque for two cycles before maximum-load impact applications to establish BMS overcurrent thresholds.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ryobi BIW-1465 / BID-1440 Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (B-1430L)

This is a 14.4V, 4000mAh Li-ion battery replacing OEM part numbers B-1430L, B-1425L, and B-1415L. It fits the Ryobi BIW-1465 impact wrench along with the BID-1440, BID-143, and BID-142 drill platforms. Voltage and connector match the original pack — the tool slots in and runs without modification.

  • BIW-1465 and BID-1440 series compatibility: These models share the same 14.4V slide-rail connector and BMS handshake protocol. One replacement pack covers the full platform — the BMS communicates with each tool body the same way regardless of whether it is an impact wrench or drill driver.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack under repeated high-torque trigger pulls on the BIW-1465 and monitored BMS response during motor-start inrush. The overcurrent protection threshold held consistent across full charge discharge cycles with no nuisance trips.
  • Motor-start break-in on the impact wrench: On first use, run the BIW-1465 at half load for two cycles before applying maximum torque. This allows the BMS to profile the inrush current draw from the impact mechanism and set its overcurrent thresholds accurately before full-load work begins.

BMS cutoff on BIW-1465 motor-start inrush surge

The BIW-1465 impact wrench draws a sharp current spike the moment the trigger fires — this inrush can hit three to four times the steady running current. If the BMS overcurrent threshold is calibrated low, it reads that spike as a fault and cuts the pack before the motor reaches operating speed. A new pack from storage can be more susceptible because the cells have not yet been profiled under load. Running two moderate-load cycles first lets the BMS establish accurate inrush data before you put the tool under full fastening torque.

Charger shows blinking red and never accepts the new pack

Ryobi 14.4V chargers have a minimum acceptance voltage — typically around 10V — below which the charger refuses to begin a charge cycle and signals a fault with a blinking red LED. A pack that has sat in storage can self-discharge below this threshold even though the cells are not damaged. To recover it, place the pack in a known-good tool and pull the trigger briefly three or four times to draw a small load across the cells. This nudges the resting voltage up enough for the charger to recognise the pack and begin charging normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BIW-1465 cuts out the instant I pull the trigger on a stuck bolt — is the battery tripping?

Yes — that is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead cell. The impact wrench draws a hard inrush spike on trigger pull, and a new or cold pack can trip the overcurrent threshold before the motor builds speed. Run two half-load cycles on the wrench first to let the BMS profile the inrush current. After that, full-torque pulls on seized fasteners should stop causing cutouts.

The impact wrench starts fine but bogs down and loses power halfway through a fastening sequence — what causes that?

That is voltage sag under sustained load, not a BMS trip. As the cells discharge, internal resistance rises and the voltage rail drops — the motor sees less voltage and torques down. Check that the slide-rail contacts on both the pack and the tool body are clean and seated fully; oxidised contacts multiply sag significantly. If contacts are clean and sag persists, check resting voltage after a full charge — it should read at or above 16.0V off the charger.

The BIW-1465 runs noticeably weaker in cold weather even with a fully charged pack — is that normal?

It is normal for Li-ion cells. Below 5°C, internal resistance rises sharply and the pack cannot deliver the same peak current — the tool runs softer and the BMS may trip earlier on inrush. Store the battery indoors at room temperature and fit it to the tool just before use rather than leaving it on the job site overnight. A pack warmed to above 15°C will deliver full rated current output.
