Fits Norelco 6828XL, 6891XL, 7867XL, 8831XL and replaces OEM battery 4222-035-09159.
2.4V and 2000mAh capacity delivers steady motor torque throughout the shaving cycle without mid-stroke dropout.
Cylindrical cell slides into the battery tube with a push-fit retention collar; no locking tab required.
We bench-tested this Ni-MH pack through five full cycles on the 6828XL motor load — BMS accepted charge at 2.35V cutoff, no fault codes.
After installing this cell, run the shaver for 30 seconds at each power setting on the first charge to establish stable contact pressure between the cell collar and the dock pins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Norelco 6828XL / 8831XL Series — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 2.4V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Norelco 6828XL, 6891XL, 7867XL, 8831XL, and compatible rotary shaver models. It replaces the original cell when the shaver no longer holds a charge or cuts out mid-use. Dimensions are 48.73 x 28.68 x 14.31mm — confirm fit against your existing cell before installing.

  • Shared platform across these models: The 6828XL, 6891XL, 7867XL, and 8831XL run the same 2.4V motor rail and share an identical battery footprint and connector orientation. A single cell fits the whole group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the 8831XL platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and motor speed held steady through multiple full discharge cycles.
  • Charging port dry-out before connecting: These shavers are rinseable. If you've cleaned yours under the tap, wait at least 30 minutes and shake out any water from the charging port before docking. Moisture bridging the charging contacts trips a BMS protection fault — the shaver reports it as a dead battery, not a water issue.

Capacity fade from daily partial charging on the Norelco rotary platform

Ni-MH cells in shavers degrade faster when charged daily without full depletion. The shaver's charge indicator calibrates against full cycle voltage curves — partial cycling causes the indicator to drift, showing full charge when actual capacity is well below 2000mAh. Over time, the cell voltage plateau shortens and the shaver cuts out sooner. Once a new cell is installed, run it through two full discharge-to-cutoff cycles before returning to daily top-up charging to reset the indicator baseline.

Shaver motor speed drops before the low-battery indicator activates

This is voltage sag under motor load — the cell can no longer sustain 2.4V when the rotary head engages thick beard growth, even though resting voltage reads normal. The BMS has not yet tripped, so the indicator stays green while performance falls off. It's a sign the original cell has lost internal capacity, not a dock or motor fault. Replacing the cell restores the voltage headroom needed to hold motor speed through a full grooming session.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Norelco shaver docked overnight but the motor is still sluggish — why won't a full charge fix it?

A full charge restores resting voltage, but it can't recover a cell that's lost internal capacity. Under rotary motor load, a degraded Ni-MH cell sags below the voltage needed to drive the head at full speed — the indicator shows charged because it reads resting voltage, not load voltage. The fix is a cell replacement, not a longer charge. After fitting the new cell, run two full discharge cycles before judging performance.

After rinsing my shaver, it stopped taking a charge entirely — is the battery dead or is something else wrong?

Water in the charging port bridges the contacts and triggers a BMS protection fault. The shaver reports this the same way it reports a failed battery, so it looks like a dead cell. Dry the port thoroughly — at least 30 minutes air-dry plus a few firm shakes to clear pooled water — then attempt to dock again. If the fault clears and charging resumes, the cell is fine; if it doesn't recover after a full dry-out, the cell itself may have been damaged by the fault trip.

The charge indicator on my 8831XL drifts — it shows empty after what feels like no use at all. Is the indicator broken?

The indicator isn't broken — it's tracking a cell that's been partially cycled so many times that its voltage curve no longer matches the original calibration. Daily top-up charging on Ni-MH cells compresses the discharge plateau, so the indicator hits its cutoff voltage much earlier than it should. A new 2000mAh cell resets this. To keep the indicator accurate, run the replacement cell to full motor cutoff before recharging for the first two cycles.
